Bride Buddies
Tootsiegirl579: Santa was good to you this year! I would love to have an elliptical. Santa did bring me an mp3 player though that I loaded up with some good songs and I use it when I go walking, we have an indoor track at work, so I try to go for 45 minutes, at least 5 days a week. Your dress is beautiful, did you buy it already or are you waiting to lose weight?
Mrskeith: Do the guys have a sportsteam they like? Maybe a pair of sandals or a tie with that on it would be nice. You can probably find them online pretty cheap.
I bought my wedding dress a few months ago, it fit snug which is good, but I'm worried that as I lose more weight and it needs to get altered, does that take the shape/look out of the dress do you think?
We are going to a working cattle ranch in Wyoming for our honeymoon. The ranch is over 300,000 acres. We will be bringing the cattle into the summer pastures on a cattle drive then helping with the branding and vaccinating of the calfs. I am really excited. My fiance has done stuff like this all his life so it will be fun for him as well as new in a lot of ways for me. YEEHAW! LOL
I don't think I posted to this thread before - maybe I did and just missed it looking back ;p Either way it's been a while so I'll (re) introduce myself :)
I haven't ordered my dress yet, I'm having one custom made as I'm getting married at a Renaissance Festival and want a period-appropriate gown. The woman who is making the gown is still looking for fabrics in the colors I want, so no rush to send measurements :)
We're getting married August 16, 2008 - moved back from July 19 {for a variety of reasons - we haven't printed the invites yet but I hope my family doesn't want to kill me - they're ALL out of town and this is the 3rd date we've picked and I still don't get to officially book until mext month!!}
My stats: 5'4", 33 years old, CW = 235; GW = 180; SW = 270
We haven't booked ANYTHING yet :( but we want to spend our honeymoon in New England :)
Congrats to EVERYONE!!!
Tootsiegirl579: my dress is a size 12, I'm hoping to be in a size 9, so that shouldn't be too bad for alterations, I don't know about you, but it seems wedding dress sizes run a little smaller anyway. The honeymoon sounds AWESOME, near were we're staying they have sea turtle/shipwreck snorkles so we can't wait to do that! Motivation - looking great in a bikini!
Tygrkat: what an awesome idea for the Renaissance Festival wedding. I live south of Boston and King Richards Faire does shows every Fall here. We used to go allll the time, haven't been the past few years though. I loved getting dressed up! Where in New England where you guys thinking about going?
tootsiegirl ~ oooh a cattle ranch that is so adventurous and active! way to go I admire that! As for me i'm probably doing the lie on the beach and chill thing. I think I wil really just want to relax. Not sure of the exact destination yet, anybody know about the US virgin islands?
tygrkat ~ that would be so much fun to have a custom made renaissance gown! Hope your date works out so that your family can all make it - it is still 7 months away - that should be enough time to plan for travel.
scarter ~ why did you pick the barbados? totally understand the motivation ;)
lemntwist ~ I know!! I am sooooo excited about my gown I can hardly stand it!! We plan to celebrate our anniversaries at the Faire as well, so it'll get plenty of use :) Sterling does a special "renewal of vows" weekend with a champaign toast and souvenir goblets and wedding certificates so we can celebrate our union there every summer!
...I'm hoping 7 months will be enough time for everyone to make arrangements - including ME :) I'm going to a bridal show this weekend - possibly two - so I should have the field of potential vendors narrowed to who we want to meet with for tastings/consultations/etc...
Have any of you posted on the message boards on the Knot.com? What has your experience been? I have a profile there {TygrKat33 if you want to check it out :) } but my experience on the boards has been mixed at best - and on some boards downright upsetting....reminded me why I hated high school....I'm just curious about anyone else's experience over there - not trying to bash or say anything bad :)
Hi Ladies! I an new to all this and Limona invited me to this group! I'm not sure how you even go about communicating in this forum. Do I just get caught up on reading all the posts and then reply to people that I want to???
I'm getting married July 19, 2008, but am looking to loe 30 pounds by my 30th b-day on May 30th! Whew..lots of 30's!
I know random question... but where are people honeymooning? Anyone in St. Lucia? Sandals? Been looking there...
I also read that many women have bought their dresses! How exciting! Congrats! I bought mine last summer. It was a little snug then, but THOUGHT I was at my fattest and felt their would be no problem to look good for the wedding, but unfortunately I weight in during the new year and I am back to my fattest ever... back to where I was when I was 15! UGH! So... here I am...just finding a way to get it off again. Always been a yo-yo. Atkins has worked best for me. I figure that if this calorie countin doesn't work I could always do Atkins a month before and get off of a good amount...only this is, it all comes back and then some!
Okay, enough talking for me. I want to see pics of invites, dresses, places, decorations, flowers, etc!
Melissa =)
I will be getting married on July 27th, 2009! Im from the Caribbean, so automatically im having a Caribbean wedding! Im glad to hear someone is coming to Barbados, which is an island very close to where i live. I live in Trinidad and Toabgo, and I will be going to the beautiful island of Margarita for my honeymoon.
Please girls, i need some support. Right now im in a size 16 wedding dress! ahh! I would lOVE to fit into a size 10!
thanks for listening!
I'm sure with all the support here, we will all be looking FABULOUS {not to mention healthier} for our weddings! :)
Keep up the good work, Ladies!!!
Hi guys!
For the Knot.com I've been on there just to look at pictures of other weddings, I like how you can choose the location or color of ones to look at. Also helps with searching for dresses! But I've never been on the message boards - honostly I don't have enough time to be posting and reading stuff on TWO websites! ha ha I wish I didn't ahve to work and then I could get super into it!
nabilah ~ Hi! Your defintely have time to get feeling great for your wedding! You can def get into a 10 if that's your goal. Although I wouldn't worry too much about sizing numbers and all that - focus on feeling comfortable and happy with the shape you're in.
I have joined a weight loss competeiton at work and my fiancee too! I think it will be good motivaiton so he has a reason not to order fries, etc. Well some of the ladies I work with were telling me I shoudln't be doing it and I don't need to lose anything else. I felt like it was a compliment, but also like they were being a little competetive - you know? Like trying to get me to feel comfortbale and slack off or soemthing.... anyway.
Good news! This morning I had a new low - 139.2! I am super excited to be out of the 140s (well it may take a few days for it to stick, but still!) My official goal is now about 5 lbs away, but I may try for 130 now. I'll just have to see how I feel at 135, but I'm also thinking about getting a 'buffer' zone going on.
How is everyone else doing??????????? Keep up the healthy eating!
ya I know it feels really good considering I haven't been this low either since right before college. that was fall of 1999 - more than 8 YEARS ago!
I really wish I could go back in time and discover CC in college.
*sending a cyber-high-five*
Way to go, Lemntwist!!
:)
Other than having a little "too much fun" Saturday night {unexpected party} my weekend was pretty laid-back.
How was everyone else's weekend?
thanks - back at ya - keep it up the good work ladies. ![]()
My weekend was pretty boring, I just moved last weekend so mostly unpacking and arranging furtinuture, blah, blah. But it is really nice to be under one roof with my fiancee! We still are getting used to having our OWN space!
tygrkat ~ I looked at those posts about your BMR and I think it makes total sense. As for me I have pretty much been averaging 1550-1600 cal/day and my calculated BMR is 1440. I have been doing it since August and just couldn't seem to eat less, but that is probably why!!! (CC recommends either 1200 or 1400 depending on my activity level).
I've been slow and steady, but I'm totally okay with that, I know if I worked out more I could lose faster, but I just don't have the time right now!
I am feeling TONS better since figuring out the BMR thing, and have gotten back on track with the crunches and freeweights ~ I'm not weighing myself again until this weekend though - no matter how much I want to, I need to give myself a little sanity break :)
lemntwist - congrats on your own place! I agree with tygrkat, it's an awesome feeling. Me & my fiance have been in our own home since August 2006 and we still say to eachother "I can't believe we have our own home!" It really is wonderful.
tygrkat - I don't quite get the BMR thing at all, I would loooove some insight with it if it's not too much trouble!
...my FI and I still comment on how happy we are to be in our own place on a pretty regular basis :)
