I am a Bride to be who is getting married in May of 2008. I would love to have a support group of women in the same boat as me trying to lose weight and tone up for the big day! Lets motivate each other so we can look and feel great for our weddings! (not to mention the honeymoon!!!)

I got the buff brides video and book. It is from the discovery health channel show and focuses on the areas you see in a dress. It is acutally a lot of fun and really is working! I bought it all on ebay pretty cheap.

Is the buff brides video really working?  My friend bought it but just started using it but if you're seeing real results I'll order it today!  My dress is strapless too so I'd really like to tighten up that part of the arm/chest that always seeems to pudge out!

Do you need weights or bands for the buff brides?  I have the slim in six videos, they seem to really get your shoulders and thighs a great workout.  Plus they have a seperate Ab video that you can do everyday cause it's only 10 or 12 min.

I do feel dorky jumping up and down in my living room, but hey it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a gym right now. :)

Just press play, lol!

The buff brides video is around 45 minutes long if you do the whole thing. I think it is fun and it goes quick. My video came with the band you use during the workout. I use the video on days I want a change from just always using the elliptical. It helps me not get too bored. I also have never been a big sweater but I do get sweaty with the video.

The book is really cool because it has two programs. One for people who have more time and then the 12 week program which I am doing. For the book program you need a balance ball, dumbbells and ankle weights. I love doing the exercises out of the book. It is cool because a lot of the things you do is with the ball and you work out the core muscles at the same time as upper and lower body just by staying balanced on the ball. I have been doing it for 3 weeks and can already see a difference as well as feel it.

Buff brides, huh?  I just ordered Sexy Arms by David Sinclair as well as 3 & 5 lb hand weights and a stability ball.  And a treadmill :)

I cancelled my gym membership and am really hoping that the huge convenience factor of having a mini home gym will help motivate me.  My last gym had such bad hours, especially on the weekends.  Also, there were only 3 treadmills so you had to rush to the gym to snag one!  I said forget this, and ordered one for myself.

I also got the weights and video since I too want to tone up my arms!  I'm going to Kleinfelds tomorrow for a sample sale so it gives me some motivation that if I DO get my dress, I have something to visually work for!

Let me know if you have any cool stability ball excercises- I know how to do basic crunches with them and that's about it!

Tootsie ~ that book does sound really cool - is that called buff brides too?  I have always wanted one of those balls beacuse I think I have bad posture at work.  I need to strengthen the core!

Shannon ~ wow, your own gym! That should def keep you into working out with a big treadmill looking back at you every day!

I had a pretty bad weekend - foodwise. Sat night was my company party and well I def had over my calories plus alcohol. It was at Dave & Busters which I thought would be kinda lame, but actually I had fun playing some of the games and just hanging with some of my coworkers. They even had gutiar hero set up in our ballroom and some people just couldn't resist playing and even singing the whole night! LOL

Sunday I worked from 9am-9pm, yuck. So I missed the Superbowl, but still manged to eat liek crap. I had taco bell for lunch because we had a really short break and then dinner super late last night, thai take out.  and I was quite hungry so I ate more than normal.  I shouldn't have weighed myself this morning...

Anyway I plan to get back on track for this week and hopefully go for a few short runs (jogs).  Just something to get me moving again!

Ya I had a horrible weekend too.  Friday we went out to a work function for my fiance and drank more there than I should have then we came home, kept drinking.  I ate random things, vegetarian chili, waffles...but everything was low-fat.  Saturday we went out for lunch in Boston but ended up staying the entire night.  Many micro-brew beers, mozzarella sticks, pizza, chicken fingers and that doesnt' count what we had when we finally got home.  I think I need to cut down on the alcohol BIG TIME!
Back down to 156 again today, I'm staying on track this time!
Nice job Carter, sometimes it definitely takes a few days to get one night out of your system....sucks! I am at 166...wahoo.  2 down, 18 (at least) to go...

Hi Girls, I just want to check-in w/everyone and see how your all doing; especially those of us who have spring/summer weddings this year - eech!  It'll be here before we know it.

Winter's been a killer, especially on weekends for me, still.  Though my fiance and I finally booked our honeymoon so that's motivating me to stick with it.  We decided to go to the Sandals resort in Antigua - CAN'T WAIT!!! 4 and 1/2 months left and only 2 until my fitting.  The pressure's on!  Hope you guys are doing better than me, the road is pretty steady - no gains, but just sslllllowwww losses.

Hi ladies - what happened to our little group?  Well as for me I had a bad couple weeks, I think I actually gained :(  More about that in my journal.  But I'm, ready to tackle those lbs and continue on to my goal!

My parents were in town for a weekend and we ate out tons, plus went to two concerts and had beers & wine.  Plus the freakin fridge was busted for about a week, had to eat out lots.  Fixed now tho!  Plus I have just had a major sweet craving after dinner, not sure why that started all of a sudden.

Looked at wedding dresses in magazines and online all weekend - I think that helped my motivation for sure.

I tried my dress on...it is getting loose around my waist and chest...YEAH ME! I haven't wanted to try it on because even though I have lost 15 pounds I was still freaking about it being too small. I feel better now. 80 days left until the big day!

Wohoo!  That's an awesome feeling!  Keep it up - how much more are you going for now??

I can't wait till I get my dress...

I have 15lbs to go to reach my goal weight but at this point I want to see more of a difference in how things fit and not worry so much about the scale. I just got into a smaller size jeans and am loving how good it makes me feel!

Right now I am watching a show on WE called bulging brides. It has a nutritionist and personal trainer who overhaul the brides food and exercise for six weeks. It is really motivating to see what a difference just 6 weeks can make. If you get the channel I would recommend it!!!

Bulging Brides - I watched that show too!  6 weeks does make a difference for sure, but these girls are in the gym 6 days a week for 3-4 hours at a time.  In the real world, who has time for that??  Not me!

Tootsiegirl579- I think you can lose before the big day, but like you said it's all about how the dress fits.  If it's big on you already, think of how it will fit in 80 days :)

Lemntwist - just get right back on the horse!  We all go off track especially when eating out...just make the next day more healthy and maybe do a little more excercise then usual.  I'm going out to dinner both nights this weekend (friday our parents are meeting for the first time- ack!, and Saturday is my FI's birthday)...yikes, we'll see how I fare.

I ordered my dress a couple weeks ago (the jim hjelm lace dress) and it's kinda early to do so since I'm not getting married until 4/09.  However, they gave me 10% off for it, so I just bought it!  I was waiting to lose some more weight before trying dresses on, but oh well!  The sample fit me perfectly, but I asked them to order down 1 size, heh heh.  She suggested the larger size only because my bust is the largest part of me (no, not always a good thing) and she wanted to ensure the dress would "accomodate" it.  I assured her I was actively losing weight and some weight would definitly come off there.  The sample seemed a bit big on top (could have been stretched out though from people trying it on) which is why I felt comfortable ordering down.

Good luck to all on contining to lose and wedding planning!

OMG - bulging brides that is funny - I really need cable to watch all these wedding shows!

tootsiegirl ~ 80 days that's getting sooo close, very exciting!  At least if you odn't make you're final goal you're dress is fitting great and you're feeling great.  that's a good attitude!

Shannon ~ thanks for the encouragement, I've been back on for 5 solid days now, I was kinda hoping that the scale would magically drop back down - but it's being stubborn!  Oooh you got your dress, very cool, what color did you get?  I really like one of those in the same collection.

The meeting of the parents - hopefully it won't be stressful and everyone will be excited to meet!  I have not had to do that one yet, but believe me I am very nervous to meet his family.  Since they are in England, I may not until the days before the wedding either!  I don't want it be like that, but unless we can somehow afford a trip to england, plus the wedding and honeymoon, it ain't gonna happen.

I have also decided to give up alcohol for a few weeks to help myself along.  It's not that I drink often, but I know it's def not helping things along, lol!  I am going to hold out for st. patty's day celebrations and then wait again until I take the exam in April!  Then I will finally have some time to work out again.  geez I realyl need it too.

tootsiegirl -  That's awesome your dress is fitting looser.  The last time I tried mine on (about 4 weeks ago) it fit the same even though I had lost weight, so I'm afraid to try it on again.  Maybe I'll wait 2 more weeks and keep my fingers crossed.  Keep up the great work though! 80 days you must be so excited. I'm at 124! :)

lemntwist - That's great you're back on track.  I'm almost glad to hear I wasn't the only one 'off the wagon' so to speak.  Though, I think I've been waay naughtier, my fiance is a teacher and was on break last week, and so I took a few days off.  We ate out at least 4 or 5 times and that's in addition to getting Dominos, KFC, MacDonalds and Subway(meatbull sub w/parmesian cheese - eech) - NOT GOOD!!! This is all within a week!!! The scale is showing 3lb. gain but it's supposed to be that TOTM in a few days so I'm hoping that I somehow magically only gained 1 or 2 lbs.  I'm getting back on track more than ever now though - 4 months until the wedding and only 2 until my last fitting - I'm hoping I can lose at least another 15 before the fitting :(

Shannon - Congrats on ordering your dress, that's an awesome feeling and will motivate you for sure!

you can do it, you just need to refocus on the goal!  Seeing the gain on the scale really made me ready to get back on after two weeks off.  It's been a week of being good and I still ahven't seen it go back down yet!  so i guess it was a real gain, or I'm totally bloated. I'm still hoping it's the bloat, lol.

2 months is 8 weeks, which is actually a lot of time!

I went for good soild runs on sat AND sun, very proud of the motivation it took!  My legs are a little sore, but that's normal after not really doing anything for almost two months.  Tomorrow I will get one more workout in!

Hey - here's a question not about dieting if anyone can relate I would LOVE the help.

We're getting married the end of June, 4 months! and we're starting to finalize "The List" and my parents are still married but my fiance's are divorced.  We want our wedding to be mostly our family, friends and other close friends of family etc.

My parents have a total of 33 people on their side (I have a lot of family might I add) and his dad has only 10 people on his; while his mom has 38!;  22 of which are just her 'drinking buddies' who we only met maybe 4 of.

Has anyone else run into any similar problems.  We wanted to keep things pretty even, but his mother and father are completely uneven, his mother has even more than my parents combined!  (might I add, his mom is a little about appearances and doesn't at all mind being the center of attention, etc.) WOULD LOVE ANY HELP, can post here or shoot me a message - Thanks in advance!!!!
