I want to hear from all you ladies out there that are going to be bridesmaids and NEED to lose weight to either fit in that dress or look good whatever it may be!

I am not sure if we can post links or anything but if you would like you can post your Name, Who's wedding ( Best Friend, Sister, brother), Date of the wedding, how much your trying to lose before that deadline and a  picture or link of the dress or just describe it!

I think it will be fun!

Ok I'll start:

My name is Samantha

One of my best friend's are getting married  on May 24, 2008

I want to lose 60LBS before then...

and here's a link to thepicture of the dress.

I think the dress is really pretty. I wish I knew the link to mine, so I could put it on the fridge and use Photoshop to put myself into it, fat and thin, so I can use it for visual motivation----is that sick? ( ;  (lol) I think this is the first bridesmaid's dress I actually liked and will wear again to prom--school teacher.... It's cafe au lait colored, like coffee with lots of cream with a robin;s egg blue sash--BUT no wrap/arm cover means they will be out there for the whole world to see and photograph---egads!!!!

Olivia here, southeast Kansas ( :
My bf's cute cousin is getting married September 8th (I have to stand with her 3 cute blond, thin, tan friends (me = dark hair and eyes and round and mostly pale--I do sport a wicked jog bra + tank top tan, lol) and I'd like to not be the obvious heavy end of the line, you know?

I'd like to lose 40 total pounds before D Day, have lost 15ish since I started (10 from end of June until now--woohoo!), lots more pounds to go after the wedding, but I can already tell my clothes fit differently and it's all getting easier---the eating right and the exercising, so that's really all that matters. I;m tagging this one and checking in, so get motivated to get gorgeous! OH YEAH! ( :

Woohoo YAY!

The dress sounds so Pretty I like the colors!

I am definately in the same boat as you with the tan lines and not wanting to be the BIG one lol!

I too will Tag and Check in hopeully we can get more people in here I know there has to be more out there!
olivia whats the day of the Wedding?
9-8-07!

around the corner -- EEK! ( :
I'm Jenna.

My older sister is getting married on Sept. 29, 2007 and I am the maid of honor.

I had hoped to lose more weight by now, but I'm down about 10 lbs and have 15 - 20 more to go.  NO WAY I can do that before the wedding, so I will be the only one in the double digits dress size.  I'd like to lose 5 more lbs before the wedding.

Everyone else in the wedding party is very small.  My younger sister is my co-maid of honor and bought a size 0 dress and had to have it taken in.  The other bridesmaids are almost as small as she is and couldn't believe it when  I told them what size my dress is.

I'm very pale and the dress is a pale pink, so I'm also trying to work on my tan.  My dress is from J Crew, but is no longer on their website.  It is a strapless, simple dress that comes to the knee and my mom had a matching pink sash made to tie around my waist.  I think she believes it will help me look smaller, but it doesn't.  It is called the "aubrey".  I had to buy two dresses, becuase they were final sale.  I really liked the "Ella" better, but my boobs are too big and my cleavage is all out there.  My sister did not approve (lol, she's much smaller than me).
Jryerson- I know about the boob thing girl!

Luckily all my friends have Big Boobs like me so we all agreed on something that covered us ok enough!
Hi Jenna,

Welcome! ( : I think your dress sounds beautiful, and you will look great ( ;

I too had to stand in between my sister's tall, thin, tan friend and her husband's to be size zero, tan, stupid sister for her wedding. Torture, but I did find it motivational in the long run.....

I will say----I have the funniest walker's jog bra/tank top tan, and I --will-- be getting a spray tan before the wedding. LOL My arms are tan, the V / chest area in fron where my tank top isn't and then two sets of strap in the back---sexy! ( :

How's the eating (and exercising?) going for you both? ( :
deleted due to double post? weird...

Thanks Olivia!

Sooo not looking forward to standing out in a line of beautifully tan, skinny women... but I'll live.  I'm still working on that tan, but it is hard to find the time to get out in the sun when I have to go to professional development trainings, teach my college class, get work done in the lab, take my pup to obedience school, get to the gym, and work out in my Jiu Jitsu class (which I have bartered a twice a month cleaning job in exchange for).  Not to mention I have a couple of small trips coming up!

Any suggestions on eating healthy on a cruise?  My boyfriend and I are taking a weekend cruise to the Bahamas soon.  I'm very excited!!
Don't be afraid to ask for something if you want or to ask questions of someone knowledgeable about preparation methods and/or nutritional information!!!!   <-- Best advice ( :

I was a few weeks into the calorie counting thing when I attended my baby brother's graduation from Army basic training. I planned ahead, brought fresh food and water/tea in a cooler, planned to use their gym, and then (I thought) ruined all my hard work by eating a VERY small breakfast from their selection in the hotel.   Finally after I realized I was being retardely obsessed but not actually DOING anything about it, I went down and talked to the super nice night manager who had checked us in...... I asked about nutritional info for the breakfast foods and he looked puzzled....Then he (no kidding, giggled like a school girl) and led me to the small kitchen where they prepare all that food and let me look at the packaging/boxes for calories, etc. Now, I had done a pretty accurate job of judging and logging my intake myself, but it made me feel,....proud? that I had take real steps to check my info and keep myself honest and on track. ( :

Now I am not saying they will do this or even tell you what's in everything, but it can not hurt to ask!  I've never been on a cruise, but I hear they are 24 hour food orgies, so be smart but try and enjoy yourself......I bet you can get lean protein like fish and chicken and great veggies and fruit. (I'd have to plan to splurge a little for dessert since I rarely do anymore.) And I am positive they have activities you can do that are more fun than eating that you can do with your honey and get a work out in besides!

I can;t wait to hear what you thought----we are considering taking one too---AFTER we finish buying this dang house! ( :
In June I was asked by my cousin to be a bridesmaid, even though I see her for about an hour once a year (no kidding).  The next day I got a call while I was out that they needed my measurements right away.  I had to put my plans on hold and find a random tailor to do my measurements and then phone them in (the wedding is 7 hours away).  The wedding is August 4th, and the dress JUST ARRIVED TODAY.  Now I have to go to the seamstress and hope that it fits (I haven't tried it on yet, I just know it arrived)...I really hope it's not too small! I've been trying to work out and I've lost 4lbs since I took the measurements but I don't think any of my sizing has changed.  I hope it goes ok!

As for the tan, I totally get what you guys mean!  In May I got an unexpected tank top tan and it is especially evident at the front (scoop neck).  I've been sitting outside most Saturdays for an hour trying to get rid of it (with sunscreen of course), and it's worked a little.  I still have some stupid tan lines, but the dress is strapless and I just want to be fairly even along the top.  The dress also stops at my knees and my legs are still pretty white.  My sister suggested Nutrogena Build a Tan...I think that's what it's called.  She said it just works up from what you already have.   I was worried that because some areas are more tanned than others it will look weird, but she says it's been good for you.  Have any of you guys tried this?

I've also been stressing out about shoes/purse (which I forgot about) and everything, because she only sent me a tiny pic of the dress, and it wasn't even the colours she picked! I hope the shoes I got match, and as for accessories, she didn't answer my emails, so I hope she doesn't care! She said she'd send me a sample of fabric months ago and it never happened.  I understand it's busy planning a wedding, but I think that if you're going to have people spend money on dresses, shoes, etc to look good, matching is important!

Next May (tentative date) my best friend is getting married across the country and I'd like to be more toned for that as well.  I'm doing "Bikini Body in 4 Weeks" pilates-type exercises from Fitness magazine and so far I like them.  Hopefully it's a routine I can stick to.  Have any of you found exercises that you swear by?

MAN, that was long! Sorry, I guess it was a bit of a rant.  I'm  happy for her, but right now frustrating is at the forefront of my mind.  I'm sure it'll go away...or...I hope so.  I just want things to come together and it's hard to see that now.  I'm at work and waiting for my ride to leave and trying to kill time.

LAST but not not least, my goal is to lose maybe 3-5 more lbs by the time of the wedding.  Mostly I just want my measurements to go down...maybe 1 inch at my hips/waist/thighs by the wedding?

Good luck to all of you!
Jetta- WOW...Tha would be hard...Im glad I still have a long time Until I measure...

The only advice I would have for the Cruise is  if you want to try something new TRY IT just dont splurge!

Good Luck though & have fun on that Cruise!
How great is it that I found this... I have needed this kind of motivation for... I don't know 7 months!!!!  It's good to know there are others out there that I have the same battle as I do.  p.s. new to this site, love it :)

I've got 3 weddings coming up- friend from nursing school 9/22, best friend 10/6, and my brother 10/13.  Of course- 3 bridesmaid dresses to fit into!

http://www.bestbridalprices.com/davinci-bride smaid-dress-9121-p-3470.html

http://www.billlevkoff.com/collections/index. asp?color_1=210

http://davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_detail.js p?stid=1353&prodgroup=110

So, there's the 3 dresses... and boy do I need to slim down!!!  I couldn't even zip one of them when they came in- I can at least get the zipper up now- but not comfortably.

I'd like to be 20 pounds lighter- but no time for that now (I hate being a procrastinator!!!).  If I lost 10, I know I'd be happy- I'd just like to finish losing the other 10 soon after ;)
oops, the 1st dress is chocolate; 2nd dress is the 8th page, 4th dress over... in burnt orange/chocolate sash; the 3rd dress is in black... details, details, details.  sorry!
krista,

golly, girl---those dresses are gorgeous! (i'm not an orange girl myself, but I like billie styles a ton!)

it sounds funny, and since there;s no pics or info on your profile, I'm just going to admit what I did..... I went to JCPenney and got a full body fat sucker. That's right, a girdle--just like mom had.... sigh BUT it was worth it---it made all the difference. And I would bet you are just more self conscious of the last 10 pounds than anyone else, so if you feel good than that's all that matters! Go look around---I figure the smoother I can make it, the better = P

need one of those tummy tuckin' suits... seriously.  wish they made one for my arms... now that would be niiiice :)
Olivia Girl i think we've all done that!

krista- Gorgeous Dresses Good Luck Hun!
hey If y'all dont mind let me know if you lose any of your weight your trying to lose so i can post it up top!
Did you find a "body fat sucker" (hee hee hee) that you liked?  I've tried a few, but they were so uncomfortable that I couldn't enjoy myself.

My weight has been fluctuating.  I'm down 6 - 10 pounds depending on the day... and I have about another 20 to go.
LOL--are we all slowly dying in the same sinking boat? ( : My scale changes if I think about breathing some days, so I decided it's possessed and if I don;t like what it says, I just ignore it for the day and go for a walk. ( :

I have no idea of a brand name or anything, but yes, I did find one that did its impressive job of keeping -me- sucked in and was pretty dang comfortable for--gosh, all day from like 10AM until the reception was over.....maybe 10 at night? It;s hideous to look at---all nude satin and spandex, but it worked. I got the one that went all the way up over my girls (but stayed where it should so it didn;t mess up the line of the strapless dress and went all the way down to my knees. Only thing is I would have tried it on and walked around in the store (with my street clothes over it! god!), so I could have seen it in other than dressing room lights. I say this only in retrospect---I think if I had done this, I would have realized I needed to suck really hard on my gut at the time in order to make the pictures more to my liking. ( : Oh well---- It was more expensive than I would have liked myself--but my mom bought. I think it was $50 something with tax from JCP. I say go in and try on a bunch of them to see what works best for you. (You've all had suckers whose leg bands cut off circulation to your feet or something uncomfortable---it;s not actually supposed to be torture.....) It;s like swim suits---it;s not fun but if you;re going to wear it, it better really fit. It was worth it---I didn;t worry about sucking it in all day long.

ANd krista, if they made one for arms, I would have one in every color!!!! LOL   This is the first wedding gig I've done where there will be nothing to cover them, no wrap, no shrug, just me and my sausage arms for all to see and photograph, so you bet I am working extra hard on those!!!

I hate to admit how much fun I am having at cc, and how much I wish I had buds in real life around. ( : thanks, girls!

(Hey--how old are all of us? --me, 30!!)
