Broken Scale?

Quote  |  Reply

I strongly suspect that my scale is broken....

It will read the same thing (162) whether I just drank a gallon of water, just ate dinner, or just woke up in the morning.  I also just found a bent piece of plastic, but I have no idea how it got bent...

What do you think? Am I just in denial, or has there really been no variation, no matter the time of day, for the past 3 days?

If it hasn't changed at all no matter the time of day, then it sounds broken to me. My weight fluctuates about 5 pounds from morning to night.

Well, I just checked on my old analog scale that happens to be in the dorm's bathroom (my donation :-) ) and it said 160, which included my robe... I'm guessing the robe weighs about a pound? so that'd put me at 159... which sounds much more correct... perhaps I should try breaking off that bent piece of plastic. It might be putting more weight on the sensors or something... and if not, I mean, if its already broken then.....

However... Here's the deal as well... if I step on with a 5 pound weight, it tells me 167.... Perhaps its consistent, just not accurate? damn scales.

im going to buy some new scales this week. Im convinced mine are broken. its old and gauge doesnt spin around smoothly anymore, sort of just jumps to place and sticks there. It says Ive lost only 1kg this week (2.2lbs) so Im in denial that its the scales and not me lol. Going to be in trouble if I get new scales and they tell me Ive lost less than the old ones lol
rofl  I swear mine is retarded too!  I have a digital one and it gives me errors every morning.  I recently changed the battery and it didnt help.  I have to get one several times for it to stop being silly.

Okay, this just happened to me this morning.  I got on my digital (again) and I've been toggling between 147 and 149 for the past month...the past MONTH!  I got on this morning and it read 157!  NO WAY!  So I busted out the analog scale and it said 141, so I took back out the digital, took out the battery, reset it and put it back in.  It then said 144.6...so, I'm going with that number.

I don't think you're in denial.  No two scales (aside from doctors' scales) will read the same I don't think (at least that's my conclusion).  As long as you've been faithful with your food choices and exercises....I'd say maybe get a new scale or reset your current one.

I think all the scales are broken.  I swear I can step on mine 5 times in 5 minutes and will have 5 different weights.  Although I have been stepping on normal, and then sideways, and kind of taking an average of those...
