Brown rice sushi
Just thought I would share my happiness in finding that my favourite sushi shop now has a selection of sushi made with brown rice!
Finally! Still tastes great although does have a slight different texture.
Has anyone else come across sushi shops which use brown rice?
Nope never heard of it... but I might have a muck around and see if I can whip it up at home!
My grocery store has a chef that makes it fresh 4 times a day they use brown rice. I like the different texture. My sisters husband is Laotian and his family makes the best food. They use brown rice too.
Have you tried sticky rice? so good be careful it is addictive.
Yeah some places around here offer this "healthy" alternative. Personally I just get the traditional one and skip the California roll monstrosities. *shrug

The local Wegmans makes it as well. I used to ask for it every time I went in there and they must have caught on to it's popularity because now they have it all made up in the case with a different label design and all.
My local sushi place has brown rice selections. I love brown rice way more than sticky and white rice. I love the texture. So brown rice sushi makes me happy
hi guys, thanks for ur replies!
I just stick to the tuna with cucumber, avocado or salmon anyway and a little bit of white rice neva hurt.. but I'm happy that brown rice is beginning to catch on because I love the texture... kind of pops in ur mouth hehe
all the best!

If you guys enjoy good sushi for a good price and are living in Los Angeles, you should check out Sansai. Six fresh rolls for $4.00! They offer all of their sushi with brown rice and they have about 18 different rolls, plus a bunch of sashimi. The rest of their food is really fresh and totally delicious. They make phenomenal salads and tasty chicken breasts, salmon, and tuna, and all dishes come with your choice of white or brown rice. The greatest part is that their food is actually healthy. They have all of the nutrition information on their website. Let me know if you've tried it.
Also, don't forget to try their fresh roasted vegetable skewers...
Rfsams - I didn't know that about Sansai! I have one just a couple of blocks from my office and have yet to stop in. I have my "regular" sushi spots that I've been going to for years and have never felt like straying, but after your post, I think I will swing by today/tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!
Zeema,
Did you get a chance to check out Sansai's sushi? I'd like to know what other people think of it in relation to some of the other great sushi spots in LA. Let me know. And thanks for commenting.
