brown sugar. (stupid question)
Hey,
I've been trying to lose weight, and have so far lost 8 kg (around 17lbs).
I have most of life dieted pretty strictly, so I would lose weight and gain is all back, cause I would literally starve myself. And I suffer (recovering) from an ED. Now that I have finally accepted that the way to lose weight is to eat, I have had a much easier time getting over my ED.
The thing is, I cannot bring myself to accept that brown sugar is fine to eat in moderation. I want to add to my oatmeal but I'm afraid to. Is it ok to eat brown sugar if you are trying to lose weight? I still have this fear of sugar and some things like that, which I think came from my disordered eating.
I know this is probably the dumbest thread ever, but I wanted to know.
(and I have been reading the site for like a year, but this is my second post I think)
One table spoon of brown sugar has only 30 calories (maybe it's even a bit less, I don't remember). 30 calories is minor, the thing to watch with sugar is that you aren't using it all the time because it is metabolized quickly (won't keep you full and spikes your blood sugars when you eat a lot).
One sprinkle of sugar on your oatmeal will not make a difference to your diet.
Oh, and a good oatmeal dish is oatmeal with some apple sauce and cinnamon mixed in ... yum!
No worries! I put a couple teaspoons on my oatmeal every morning, and I've lost 20 lbs in the past three months. Just log it as part of your daily calories, and you'll be fine. But I know; it tastes so good that it MUST be bad for you! ![]()
good! that makes me feel better! thank you for your responses!
if it worries you so much, you could maybe get that splenda/brown sugar mix so that you can get the same amount of sweetness with less (about 1/2 teaspoon of splenda mix for every full teaspoon of reg. brown sugar you would of used)... ie 8cal vs. 15cal per tsp.. or 15cal vs. 30cal per tbsp
mmm brown sugar oatmeal...
