So, i just got home yesterday from my cross-country-family-vacation-thing. we drove from my home [nashville,tn] all the way to the grand canyon in az [stopping and visiting other canyons & sites along the way]. the total round trip was 5,083 miles [in two weeks].
well, to make a long story short, i just want to say that instead of gaining weight like people normally do when they go on vacation, i stuck to my eatting plan as best as i could and. . . . i LOST weight =]
*takes a bow*
i just wanted to say brownie points for melissa =] haha
Go you! Go you!
In the game of life, Melissa gets brownie points for losing weight when being on vacation and Pilgrim gets moldy pea porridge points for gaining weight when he went on vacation.
Congratulations on your successful vacation. Your brownie points should qualify you for a reward of a big pan of calorie-rich brownies.
that's awesome.... i definitely gained like 3 pounds when i went on vacation this month (actually to nashville haha) but lucky lost it quickly and then some.
Congrats! I am about to go on vacation myself and I'm wondering if you kept up your workout routine while you were traveling in addition to eating well. I'm trying to figure out if I should plan on exercising while I'm away.
wow that is amazing!!!
I went to Hong Kong this summer and I found it impossible to stay on my diet!! What mental strategies did u use to keep on track?
I'm on vacation now the week after making my goal. We'll see what happened to my weight when I get back Thurs. morning. I feel like I've maintained. I might have a small gain due to water weight. My breakfasts and lunches are planned and structured like my home breakfasts (except that the continental breakfast has entenmann's donuts..I've had one plain one the past couple of days with my cereal and banana), but our dinners have been out at restaurants.
We shall see. I'll post back with the results. :)
colldriscoll, no i did not keep up with my exercise, although we did do a LOT of hiking around the canyons :)
sleepybum, i think that the number one thing that kept me motivated was my parents. because one, my dad doesn't care about healthy eatting at all and i was in shock at the amount of soda's he consumed, and twinkies and all other horrible gas station junkfood he ate. and two, my mom wants to get onto the healthy eatting bandwagon, so the whole vacation i wanted to be a rolemodel and show my mom how easy it was to pick good things out at resturants, and what to eat if you get the car-munchies instead of candy bars or cookies.
and the funny thing was, was the day after my parents got home (VA) after dropping me off at my house (TN) my mom called me and told me that she went grocery shopping and bought whole-grain bread, wraps, fruit, eggbeaters and a variety of other healthier things. =] go mom!!
and thanks for all the nice comments you guys =]
So I somehow lost on my vacation. Only 0.8 pounds but a loss nonetheless. And I ate around 2000 calories a day with not a big increase in activity in my opinion. Maintaining is gonna be so easy :)
