Poooor me, I have done all the right things and had a model week, really, and what do I have to show for it? A half pound GAIN. And it was up even higher yesterday so I am glad it went down a little bit. wtf?? Week 20 and hitting a plateau? I hope not!!

Started trying really hard to lose weight about 6 weeks ago.

I am worried I have hit a plateau also...:(  I have been doing good and trying to follow the rules but less than a pound lost this week.  My weigh in days right now are.  I am going to up my bike time to 52 minutes again, plus I am going to add weight training (5lb weights) 3 days a week for 20 minutes, plus adding sit-ups and push-ups that is if my back will allow me.  Woke up yesterday with my back killing me after doing the few sit-ups I could manage Monday night.

Any one else have back, knee and ankle trouble...even walking alot swells my ankles and makes my knees hurt.  I am so ready to get rid of the other person that I am carrying around so that I can be active without paying for it the next day.

tandr, I feel your pain...re: the plateau as well as the body pains.

I could not do sit-ups at all until I discovered the exercise ball. The chick at the gym showed me how to do crunches on it, and bingo NO back pain!! Before I thought my spine was being driven into my body it hurt so bad. LOVE love love the exercise ball!! You can do all sorts of other strengthening exercises on it that don't put stress on your body too.

I had an episode of plantar faciitis in my heels a few weeks ago that scared me into taking some preventative action, I don't want to ruin my feet or knees before I am even fit enough to enjoy exercise!! So I got some orthopedic inserts for my walking shoes...the folks at the ortho shop told me to wear them all the time including at home but c'mon there's a limit. I don't push too hard on the treadmill, have taken to biking to work, and am trying to work in some time on the elliptical instead of treadmill...but it's hard....I too will be SO happy to get rid of the extra "person" I am carrying around! Exercise of any kind os so hard and I get so mad about it...especially when I am with a thinner person who can move faster than me...I think "I'd like to strap an extra 100 lbs on you, see how fast you move THEN", haha

Victoria, you make me laugh!  It's true though, I always think that people have no idea what it's like having all this extra weight.

I love the exercise ball too.  Doing crunches on the floor hurts my back some, but besides that, a girl I was friends with was a personal trainer at one point and said that doing crunches on the ball works out so many more of your stomach muscles since you have to keep yourself balanced and NOT fall off the ball.  According to what she had said, people can do a ton of crunches on the floor for months and never get a 6 pack but use the ball and there it is!  Well, assuming there is no fat hiding it.  Not that I want a 6 pack, but the idea of my stomach being muscle and not just gross.  Until the last year or so, I never really had much there.  So I hate that area right now.

Although, if you ever decide to do pushups on the ball, make sure that you don't have too much of the top part of your body off the ball.  I found out the hard way.....I let myself go towards the floor and then realized I didn't have the arm strength to push myself back up.  Laughing, I landed on the floor in a loud thump =)

Weighing myself on saturdays...Don't know if it's just TTOTM or not drinking enough water.  With the temps jumpin into the 90s and being outside more than I was, I'm just not sure if I'm holding the water.

The plateau finally broke over the weekend, YES, and the lbs are falling off like crazy! Today I hit a major milestone. I am now the lowest weight I have been in at least 10 years!! Go me!

Grats Victoriagirl!  Glad to see you get through your plateau.  I can imagine that it'd just not be too much fun.  And that's awesome to be lower than you have in such a long time.
