buddys needed! trying to lose 10-15lbs by July 4th
since july 4th is around the corner i would like to be in top shape for swimsuit/bbq season :) i am looking for people with similar goals and stats to share accountability with and also to provide motovation and tips!!
im 23 years old, im about 5'9" and weigh approx 160lbs....my goal is to be in the 145-150 range. i figure losing around 1.5-2 lbs. a week is achievable, and setting a final goal range within 5lbs. will allow more flexability and less room for failure.

Hey! New here! I am 28 and 150 which has been devistating to me because all my life I was always VERY thin. I am trying to go for apx 135 lbs which is healthy for my frame (small) So I am down to join in losing weight with you! I log ALL my food and see a holistic health doctor who has me on a temporary STRICT 1000 calorie a day diet! Pretty easy if you eat the right foods!!!! (no beer) :( and I have begun to work out regularly! I am really into healthy foods and can be a great asset to do this with you!

I have the same goal set as you do! I was doing a strict 1200 calorie diet because I was told that was the lowest I could take in and still be healthy. But I agree that if you pick the right foods it's almost hard to make 1200 calories. Good luck with your goal :)
Welcome Keileen and we would be happy to have you join our group. I am not on a strict diet unless I make it that way but your input would be very good. I tend to not eat the way I should all the time or the way I plan my meals. I somehow manage to stay within my calorie intake for the week though.
I am 27 and I weigh about 148 lbs(or I will once the monthly visitor is gone, water weight :| ) at 5'4". My goal weight is 142 lbs by the 4th and 135 lbs before July 18, which is my 1st time to go to Vegas. So any help and motivation that we could give to each other will only benefit us all.

lets talk about time of the month. so yesterday i was craving peanut butter all day. i wanted it on bread with jelly. on a banana and straight from the spoon. i waited til i got home from work to indulge. between increasing my workouts plus that time of the month, i am practically eating my way out of the house! you can compare what i ate last night to my planned diet i posted yesterday. its funny.
so last night after work (on top of what i planned):
1/2 PB and Jelly sandwhich, banana with PB, 4 oreos, brownie with one scoop of ice cream, 2 chocolate chip cookies, 2 cups of cereal, 1/2 pop tart.
im ok with it, my attitude is at least it wasnt a whole bag of cookies or 1 whole sandwhich or 1 whole pop tart haha. good news is today im craving none of that :)
workout:
50 min walk before work
6 mile run after work
30 min weights during lunch
food:
B: coffee
L: WW soup
D: chicken and veggies
S: frozen grapes, apple, cottege cheese
Kren, that sounds like me last weekend when I first started too. I had cravings for fried chicken and chips though and I ate my fair share of them. I swam most of the calories off though.
Here is my plan for today:
B: Coffee
L: Chef salad no dressing
D: 1 Slice Pizza and salad
S: Apple and peanuts
Exercise: 90 min Cardio, 60 min walking, 45 min Upper body, 30 min Stretching
I didn't get a good workout in last night due to a migraine headache so tonight I am going to push my body to a new level. I beleive it is ready to increase weights and cardio.

Ha, it's my time of the month too. I was doing so well with my diet until it started...now i just want sweet things (and as cliche as it is, i need chocolate). I tried to avoid the sweets, but then i found cake in the fridge...uh oh...and i just tried bite...which turned into half a piece...which late that turned turned into the rest of the piece. Oh well, to make up for satisfying my sweet tooth i'm keeping my regular calorie intake even lower. While I'm at work i'm sticking to salad, because i know once i get home I won't stop eating. Only 2 days left of this though.
O and I didn't know it could make you hold water weight. I was so bummed yesterday when I hadn't lost any weight for three days, but maybe that's why. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

I knew that I was going to start mine because I gained 4 lbs in two days and then it started. It should be over Friday so I will weigh myself again to see how much water retention I still have. I tend to hold in a lot of water around that time of month, which bums my out too.
You will find out soon enough but I am sure it will be alright. You will succeed to lose the weight, I know you will. Just keep up your hard work and we will all keep you motivated whenever you need help.
Morning all! My time of the month just finished, and I ate like crazy this past week. But after all said and done, I have lost 2 lbs. Which is good. I still have 8 to go before the 4th but I wont give up. It's been so hot in San Diego, its been hard to go to the gym at lunch, take a shower, re-do hair and makeup and get back to work in time. Last night my ex had my daughter so I got to go to the gym for 2 hours. I burned 575 in cardio alone! I was so stoked. Usually in my half hour of working out at lunch I only burn 250. Anyways going to have to find a new workout plan since the lunch time isn't cutting it anymore. I am thinking maybe I could do the 30 mins at lunch, and workout again after work with my daughter by walking/running the lakes or something.
I start a new class tonight at San Diego State, so I am not getting any exercise today! :(

My morning has been going great so far. I am on track with my eating and exercise. I just got done running 1.5 miles on my lunch break. I feel so good right now. How are you all doing today? Good I hope.
I have big plans this weekend to get some intense workouts in. I am going to burn at least 3500 cals over this weekend but my goal is to burn closer to 7000 cals. Wish me luck.
Here is my plan today:
B: Coffee
L: Hotdog
D: Shrimp and broccoli
S: Skittles (They tempted me), apple, and dry roasted no salt peanuts
E: 90 min eliptical, 60 min circuit training, 30 min intense stretching, and maybe some lower body weights (depends on how I am feeling).
I now finally have Internet at home so if I get off track or need motivation, can I count on everybody to push me and help motivate me? I might really need some help this weekend if I don't stay on track. I would really be grateful and I will help you all out as well.

im working at the hospital this weekend, ill be helping deliever babies so im ok with that :). no big plans here, i volunteered to work this weekend so i can have off july 4th weekend!!

Tweetrita and Krenren did you guys reach your weekend goals....there are only a few days left until the 4th...keep going!
Personally, I had the worst weekend in terms of my diet...On sunday I had the shower for my brothers wedding. The weekend was filled with family, which was nice, but my family makes a lot of food. I loved eating it but I know I'm going to pay for it when i hop on the scale today. O well, a few more days to make up for it. If I lose the weight I probably put on this weekend i will officially be down 10 lbs since I joined this group. I think it will be very important for us all to keep motivating each other, especailly over the fourth of july break... I know I will have to keep reminding myself that just because I'm on vacation I can't go crazy...I'm not going to give up all I have worked for so far.

I did reach my smaller goal to burn at least 3500 cals. I actually ended up burning around 5500 cals total. I did that by swimming, mowing/yard work, running, walking, and circuit training.
I am sorry to hear about your weekend Luckynumb. I completely understand when family is around and how they cook because my family is the same way. They also love to cook with butter or oil and lots of potatoes and pastas. I have started to bring some of my own foods like fresh veggies and fruits so that I have something healthy to eat when I am around my family.

Good Morning Everybody,
How are you all doing? I am doing great just really tired after the day I had yesterday. It was so hot in my house and I was trying to do cardio but had to stop, it was too hot. I thought that I was going to pass out from being so hot and I drank close to 1/2 gallon of water yesterday.
I didn't get the workout in that I wanted to or planned but I did go and buy an AC unit last night, so I hope that helps with cooling down the house. So here is my plan today to make up for yesterday:
B: coffee and cereal
L: oatmeal
D: Salad and fruit
E: 90 min cardio, 30 min circuit, 45 min upper body, 20 min stretching
Keep up the hard work everybody and just think, we only have 3 days after today until the 4th :(

i've been increasing my running and im starting to see the results in my legs, the muscles are becoming more prominant, but not in a body builder way, just in a nicely toned way.....just in time for my red/white and blue dress for the 4th!!
today i worked out in the morning before work since i wont get a chance to do so after work with class and everything. i may run 2 miles on my lunch break, i havent decided yet tho.

I did see some results on the scale. I lost 1.5 lbs and I have increased the level of intensity with weights. From when I first started working out, I had a hard time doing so much but now I can run an hour longer without getting tired, I can lift heavier weights for more reps, and not to mention how much more energy I have.
How has everybody else improved? I think that if we think back to when we first started working out, how we felt and what we were limited in doing. Then compare that to where we are all at now and realize just how far we have come. I did a complete 180 from the way I used to be. What do you guys think about your improvements?

hi guys, cant believe the 4th is only two days away, it seemed so far when we first started!! Hope all of you are on track to your goals and im pretty sure everyone has lost overall which is just so fantastic!! I had my birthday last weekend, and had reached my goal for that, but i was a little worried weighing this morning if my excess booze and cake woud show on scales, I'm so happy to say I stayed pretty much just under 135lbs, I'm still motivated to keep this up as I've a wedding the 11th to attend and I hope to be 133 for that and 130 by Aug 01. So I need the encouragement and ideas from you ladies!!
Today's meal plan:
B: All bran sprinkled with protein powder and 1/2 Skim milk
L: Mixed Veg Soup and Apple
D: Omelette with 2 egg whites&1Egg yolk, tomato&onion, served with lettuce and beetroot
S: 2 cups of tea with skim milk & 1 Chocolate covered rice cake.
Total: 1200 cals
Wont be working out today bcos im sick at the mo, so trying to keep cals low.

Well the Fourth is tomorrow so I hope that everybody has got some great plans because I know that I do, camping.

Stats: 23yr F 5' 10
SW in Apr 16th: 145lbs
CW July 5th: 132lbs
GW August: 130lbs
Have lost 13lbs, 2lbs to go until goal weight, although I feel I have more so I will keep at it until I feel 'right' and then put on a couple of pounds of muscle doing a lot of pilates, weights.
How I figure I dropped those lbs? Concentrating 80% on diet, 20% on workouts, allowing myself one day every 2nd week eating at maintenance.
Not sure if my post will be informative to anyone out there, but I guess it might motivate someone to keep at it.
Next steps for me: Get bodyfat % measured (that ought to terrify me!), get it down 10% by xmas!
