buddys needed! trying to lose 10-15lbs by July 4th
since july 4th is around the corner i would like to be in top shape for swimsuit/bbq season :) i am looking for people with similar goals and stats to share accountability with and also to provide motovation and tips!!
im 23 years old, im about 5'9" and weigh approx 160lbs....my goal is to be in the 145-150 range. i figure losing around 1.5-2 lbs. a week is achievable, and setting a final goal range within 5lbs. will allow more flexability and less room for failure.
anyone else???
Good Morning Everybody,
I was going to go for a walk on my lunch but not since we got 7-10 inches of slushy snow dropped on us last night. We have power out all over the city since power lines and power poles have been knocked down. Fun time this morning at work. I had to help get us up and running since I work in IT. But besides this crazy morning, all is good.
I have been really successful with calorie shifting so far. I feel so much better and not so worried about what I eat anymore. I eat very healthy still but I have learned to eat sweets or things less and in moderation so that I don't binge anymore. Whoohoo!
So here is my plan today:
B: Apple and Coffee
L: Chimichanga and celery
D: Elk burger, steamed veggies, and fruit
S: Apple, celery, and mixed nuts
Exercise: 30 min Upper body weights, 60 min cardio or less, 45 min stretching
Everybody keep up the good work.
Hi guys, hope all is well, I'm not having the best week, yet again, im not overeating and im maintaining around 138/137, its just that im not motivated to do any exercise, i walk about 3 miles each day, to and from work and at lunch time and im just not feeling going to the gym when i get home each evening, i went Monday and Tues and today I just came home and slept, that is so not like me usually im pretty motivated and consistent going for a run or gym every evening, im beginning to feel so lazy and angry at myself! Ive been eating approx 1100-1300 cals a day, i know its low but im trying to make up for the lack of exercise and create the deficit that my body has gotten used to, hopefully Ill be back on track, feeling the gym vibe soon.. as anyone else got stuck in a lazy rut before, any advice on how to snap myself out of it? Im thankful im not gaining but i know exercise is so integral to healthy living and I miss enjoying it.. im just so tired
I know that if I walk for too long on my lunch break, I don't feel like exercising when I get home. It is because I am tired due to the over exercising on my lunch break. I also have no motivation to work out if I eat unhealthy foods. They seem to just exhaust me, foods like potatoes, pastas, and breads.
I don't know your body type or how long you have been working out so walking that much might not even bother you but for me wlkaing too much puts me in a state of exhaution.
I also make a protein shake for myself on days that I feel tired and that helps boosts me up which then I want to work out. Have you tried protein shakes before?
thanks for the reply tweeteria, the thing is i used to walk about 50 mins everyday at lunch, and then come home and go to the gym 5-7 days a week for another 60 mins cardio and this is only two weeks ago, so im not doing anything different which is annoying for me to figure out! I bought protein shakes last weekend, but i cant bring myself to drink them whole, i sprinkle a little powder over my porridge in the morning but its days to get through one sachet so im gonna look around for more tasty ones, im in ireland so we dont have as great a range of diet foods over here, well we do but not as readily available maybe..
Carolally,
You're welcome. When I drink protein shakes, I try to blend them with bananas and ice in a belnder, which takes a lot of the nasty taste out of it. Don't blend it with oranges though, yuk! I have a hard time stomaching the taste of soy protein shakes as well. I try to drink them as fast as I can.
I have even put a little powder in my coffee in the morning over using other creamers and that helps a little bit, but like I said I just try to drink them as fast as I can.
I would also suggest talking walks where you haven't walked before. I love walking to explore new areas. That might help in getting you motivated more. When I walk from my house I try to take different paths everytime, if possible to spice up the walk. Do you have anybody that can walk with you to keep you motivated?
im glad to see everyone is doing well. i havent weighed myself at all this week due to a couple run ins with ice cream :) speaking of protein shakes, did any of you try myoplex lite? i was wondering about the taste cause i havent liked many of the protien shakes i tried before.
I haven't tried that one yet. The one I currently have is a soy protein mix because that is all I could find and that one is very hard to get used to the taste.
I had a run in with some frozen yogurt yesterday and I regret it now that I didn't get a workout in before or afterwards. I'll get a good workout in tonight though. It is finally supposed to stop raining and be sunny, so I am getting outside for a long walk/run.
Here is my plan today:
B: Oatmeal, flax seeds, coffee
L: hotdog, celery, and cheese
D: Chicken, brussel sprouts, fruit cocktail
S: Celery, fruit snacks, and Gum
Exercise: 90 min cardio, 60 walking, 30-45 min strength upper body, 20 min stretching.
plan:
B: coffee and apple
L: mixed veggies and chicken
D: left over pesto pasta
S: veggie soup and crackers
workout:
run six miles/lay on my couch tonight...im exhaused :)
happy friday everyone!
Hey everyone,
I'm in the same boat. I'm 5'5" and i'm 160. My eventual goal is 130 but I want to lose as much by the 4th as possible because of bikinis and what not. I'm going to try a new diet called zig zagging. It involves changing your calorie intake to trick your metabolism so it's always running on high. I've heard good things about it, but i'm a skeptic so I'll document how I do on here. I'm going to start the diet tomorrow. Also I exercise 5 days a week for atleast an hour.
The diet claims almost 10lbs in two weeks so we will see what happens and I promise to be honest with results and activity. Let's see what happens
Hey carolally,
I was in a rut before and i joined a gym that has lots of exercise group programs. The classes are wicked fun and they are different every time so the workout doesn't get boring. Plus I met a bunch of people and I meet up with them at classes. It's great to have friends at the gym because they'll get on you if you stop going.
I am trying calorie counting which is just the same as zig zagging and I have lost four lbs in the last two weeks. It does work as long as you don't do for longer than you need to. I will have to find the article that I read, but it said to do this for 4 weeks, take 2 weeks off, and go back to the 4 weeks shifting calories. Otherwise you can hurt your metabolism.
You have to be really disciplined to make sure you stay within your calorie limits. Here is an example of what two weeks look like for me:
Week 1 M: 1800 T: 1500 W: 1400 TH: 1400 F:1800 S:1500 S:1500
Week 2 M:1500 T:1250 W:1800 TH:1800 F:1300 S:1400 S:1500
I also don't eat the same foods all the time. If on the lower calorie days I eat nothing but healthy foods, the next day I will eat potatoes or pastas to get my calories from a variety of foods. This way my body doesn't get used to the same kind of food calories all the time.
I hope that helps you a little bit.
Well I must say I've been following my diet to a T. In fact-I even scheduled a cheat day that just keeps getting pushed back b/c I can't seem to find the cravings! Today I was finally going to cheat but I had one square of dark chocolate and that was it. Actually, I'm kinda sad lol I know i love food but after a while you get used to the lesser amount? Anyways, so yes, I'm on track but worried I'm not losing and then wondering if anyone has really had experience with the whole starvation mode thing or if it's just a myth?
This group looks great! I'm 16 and 5'6, weighing 171 currently. I love looking at everybody's food intake and exercise plans! It gives me ideas.
Today I took a rest from exercise, but yesterday my day went like this:
Breakfast: Scrambled egg with chopped onions and half a slice of American yellow cheese. Side of toast. Orange juice.
Lunch: Yogurt, Nature Valley crunchy granola bar.
Snack: Honey nut cheerios
Dinner: Veggie Sandwich - Wheat pita bread, black olives, tomato slices, one slice of yellow cheese, romaine lettuce. Sip of 7UP at the end.
Snack: 2 oatmeal raisin cookies made with half the butter.
Calisthenics and stretching for 20 minutes
Run/Walk for 45 minutes
Basketball 2 vs. 1 with my brothers - 1 hour
I've lost about 4 pounds so far this week. Hope I can lose more by the 4th!!!
Thanks for the advice tweetrita!
I'm going to be trying the same thing. I haver read a couple of articles and they suggest doing the zig zag for two weeks and then keep a steady calorie intake. After a few days, if you still want to lose more weight you do it again. I plan on doing two rounds pretty close together and then taking some time off with a regular low cal. plan. I'll definately take your advice on switching up foods. That's my biggest problem (I always get stuck in routines with breakfast and lunch). I started an online program that will switch up the foods for me. I'll let you know how everything goes :)
Hello there! I hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a bad weekend, I find myself doing REALLY good during the weekdays and losing a couple pounds, then having bad weekends and gaining it back. So on Monday I am always the same weight! It's frustrating.
One good thing is my daughter is now out of school, which means we will have more time in the evenings instead of spending time doing homework and projects. We can now walk at the Lakes and get out everyday. My boyfriend and I walked Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So we got some cardio everyday.
My daughter is now going to summer camp right by my work, so instead of going to the gym at lunch, I am going to have lunch with her everyday. So I am hoping to get at least an hour of cardio a day after work everyday.
Here is my plan for today:
b: egg white, whole wheat toast, turkey ham
l: chicken enchiladas - spanish rice
D: turkey burger with steamed veggies
Walk for 60 mins at the lakes tonight.
Everyone have a good day!
plan:
b: banana and coffee
l: pb and jelly, banana
d: chicken noodle soup and sandwitch.
workout: running 2 miles, cardio 60 min, weighs 30 min (arms and chest)
i think ill step on the scale again this wednesday...wish me luck!!! have a fabulous evening everyone...one day closer to friday :)
Krenren77 and Desiree,
I too have great weeks while I am at work but on the weekends, Uh Oh! The food is just so easily available. Thank goodness I have a bunch of fresh fruits and veggies. I am more proud of myself this weekend then the lat few though. I did a lot better with eating this time than I have been doing.
I have been off today though. I have already ate more than 1000 cals. I have been really wanting to eat peanuts. They are dry roasted with no salt and I just want to keep eating them. I don't know what it is today. I am really going to have to bring on the cardio to burn off some of these cals.
So here is my exercise plan this evening:
90 Eliptical machine, 60 Strength (lower body), 30 min stretching, 60 walk/jog
I do hope everybody had a great weekend and I look forward to a successful week with all the motivation from everybody.
I have problems on the weekends too- This week I only lost 1/2 lb b/c of it (even though I was really on track all week). Its the wine for me- I drank a whole bottle on Saturday while sitting and talking with an old friend! A whole bottle!!!!!
Anyway- I was 211 when I started this- down to 194. I really wanted to be 189 by 7/4, I'm turning on the cardio this week so wish me luck!
Susieq76- I have a problem with the drinking too. it's like I try to drink light beer when we get together and socially drink with our friends..but it doesn't seem to matter if I have 4-5 beers! That's 400-600 calories. I stopped drinking wine because I could drink a whole bottle on a Saturday night getting together with the neighbors and having a game night. I am trying to drink liquor with crystal light or diet soda if I do drink.
Hi guys, well just a little input in how i survive my indulgent weekends, i look more at calories intake on a whole weekly basis, I aim low during the week and then maintenance at weekends and i find it works for me as im never gonna stick with anything that won't allow me booze and good food at least every second weekend. Im losing pounds these last few days even though ive been feelin unwell and havent been exercising at all so im concerned im losing all my muscle, im now down to 136, SW 145, GW 130-133 but id like more of that to be muscle than I have at the moment.. July 4th not too far now guys, hope everyone is on track..
