Builder Bars... yet another Clif variety

Quote  |  Reply
They have 270 calories (eek!) so I only eat them when I really need to, but they're really good and pack with a whopping 20 grams of protien!  I think they're a great snack after an intense workout.

Anyone else like them?  I'm wondering how much of that protien is actually assimilated into the body.  It seems like so much.  Most other bars have like 4-5 grams.

I tried them. I was surprisingly unsatisfied by them. The chocolate mint was OK, but.. it didn't hold me nearly as long as I expected 20 grams of protein to hold me. Possibly because of all the sugar in the bar bringing my blood sugar up and then down again.
i make these with only 191 cals and 14 gr of protein:

They're also kind of hard to chew.  I had to take small bites and then chew so hard that my jaw hurt.  Maybe that's their tactic?  You can't even eat a whole one, or your jaw will fall off.

The best, THE best bar is the Pure Protein bars. I'm not an advocate of the food bars unless they are oats, little sugars and not candy coated. Kashi would be an example. But I'm trying to up, up up the protein and these are in the 18- 19-g protein, little sugar at all and from 4- 5-g fat. Freekin' delicious. I've had most flavors except the peanut butter, or ones w peanuts. One is called smores which is probably the lowest in fat and highest in protein. Typically, I'd find that too much fat, but when you're going hi protein the fat isn't as much a problem (well it is, but you know what I mean?).
