my burn-meter just changed and i didn't do anything: wut?!?!?
did this happen to anyone else? i set it to sedentary adn then log any activity. but now, at sedentary still (i checked on my settings) it says i burn 200 more calls than it did 20 minutes ago? wuhhhhh?!?!?
if any moderators or administrators know what the deal is, plz let me know!
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Calorie Count Plus
I've had something similar happen. My burn meter used to be set at 1800 (sedentary) then I add my activities. Now it defaults at 1740 instead, which means less cals I can consume if I want the same deficit... I didn't change anything either. It just showed up that way one day and I haven't figured out what happened or how to get it to go back to 1800...
Burn meter is an estimate of your calorie use throughout the day. If you were alive at the time, you burned some calories!
Yes, the burn meter shows what you will have burned up to a certain time of day. It doesn't reach the total until midnight and then it switches back to 0.
If you add an activity, the totals go up for that day to match the "extra" activity you did -- minus what you would have burned during that time normally.
Also, as you lose weight the estimate fro what you would normally burn during the day goes down. It takes more effort (calories) to move 200 lbs of body than it does 175 lbs of body.
to clarify: i set it at sedentary, but today i didn't add any activity... it just got higher
n/m, found the problem: it put an activity i did yesterday for today. oops..
Happens to the best of us ![]()

CC will change your burn meter when you log your weight. Since your losing weight, your body burns less calories. This is why it is harder to lose weight when your closer to your goal weight. So if your burn meter went down 60 calories, you probably lost a few pounds, so congratulations.
My burn meter went down 10 calories because I logged a 1.5 lbs weight lost. It sucks that your body is burning less calories but great that your losing weight.
maybe i'm just weird but i find it really hard to grasp that i am burning 1800 cals just sitting and breathing. how is that even possible??

1800 calories isnt what you burn just sitting and breathing. Its what you burn just doing everyday activities (getting a shower, going to work, cooking, walking from room to room, etc). Your bmr is what your body burn just by living, therefore thats the number that is recommended that you consume everyday.
At least this was my understanding of the numbers. If Im wrong, please correct me someone!
Totally possible!
My burn is 2200 and I lost 50 pounds eating between 1500-1700 cals a day.

You're correct. The burn meter shows your estimated normal expenditure calories burned. your BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate is what your body needs every day to do it's basic every day functions (breathing, pumping blood, processing what you eat, etc...) and that would also be the number you must eat every day. however, FDA recommends no less than 1200/day for women and 1500/day for men.
