I know the eat meter is tracking how many calories I eat a day, but I don't get the burn meter.. I know it's measuring exercise.. but can somebody explain it to me so I understand what I am looking at when I log in?? thanks so much! :)
It depends on what you set your activity level to. I set mine at sedantary so my Burn Meter basically shows the calories that I burn just by living my daily life and working at my desk job. Then I add in the calories burned by my workouts. If you figure in workouts when you determine your Burn Rate then you wouldn't log exercise unless it was something out of the ordinary. The Burn meter that you see when you log on shows how many calories you've burned that day and it's based on your age, sex, weight, and activity level. Hope that helps!
Funny, I remember asking that exact question when I first joined CC. The burn meter indicates appromate calories that you will burn from the start of your day until midnight depending on your activy level(sedentary, moderate, active). If you are trying to lose weight, you want to make sure that your caloric intake is less than your calories burned in a day. When I was trying to lose the 5 lbs I felt needed to go, I was looking at 500 calories less a day until goal was reached. If you are trying to maintain, make sure they are close to match. What you eat to tho is as important to watch as daily caloric intake. Good fat, protein , and fiber combine with good excersise routine will get you where you want to go. ust don't become obsessive like me;-). Good luck with you goal, llots of great advice, support and links here.
hi daisy so if my burn meter is say 2000 for the day i should be eating 1500 cals is this right?
that would be reasonable. yes.
On your Account page you will see a small question mark on the right at the top. This is the FAQ or Help key. If you click on it you will see a complete explanation of how the Burn Meter works.
Thank you all so much. I think I get it now. thanks :)
Okay, so.... if you don't go by the number that is automatically entered for you ... trying to be more exact about it. Do you enter everything you do throughout the day in the exercise log? I tried it for one day, entering everything - sleeping, sitting, walking, grooming, housework, childcare, typing, etc. and made sure it added up to 1440 minutes(24hours). It seemed to add up to a lot burned! For a day with no extra exercise, only going about my normal day, it was 2,419. Actually, I guess that is roughly what the burn meter estimates for me so I guess that makes sence.
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
