On "My Home Page" I do not understand the "Burn Meter"  It says way more calories burned that what I have actually done today.  Can aqnyone help me out with this.  Or is this number, what I "NEED" to burn.  I don't get it?!!!

The burn meter is a measure of how many calories your body burns just being alive, based on your age, gender, activity level, etc., but it's different for everyone. Some people have tricky metabolisms that the meter can't take into account. For most people, if you want to lose weight, it's best to keep the number of calories you eat about 500 or so below the amount you burn.

I'd like to clearify.  The burn meter has two numbers.  The small top one is your estimated burn for the entire day.   This will change when you add activity to your log, and this small number is the important one for figureing out your deficit.

the large number is the amount of calories you have already burned up to that exact moment.  That number will change every time you refresh the page.  It will keep going up till it's equal to the little number at midnight, and then will flip back over to zero.

now you never want to have a deficit over 1000 calories.  So when you subtract your eat meter number from the little burn meter number at the end of your day it should never be more then 1000 calories.  Most people aim for 500 calories, 300-700 is good too.

Now the reason that number looks so high is that your body is burning calories all the time.  It takes calories for your heart to pump and you rlungs to breath, and your brain to function.  You burn calories in your sleep.  So when you exercise you burn more calories.  At midnight your little number on the burn meter will tell you how many calories you will burn if you do nothing but sleep and watch tv all day (( if your set to sedentary)), when you add your exercise and activity that number goes up.
