Burn Meter??
Hello! I am fairly new to this and am not sure exactly what is going on with the "Burn Meter" I know I can add in the calories that I burn at the gym... but it seems like it is adding in other calories??? Any advice or explanation would be great... otherwise I am just not going to use this feature!! Thanks for any help! ![]()
The burn meter is simply a running log of all the calories you burn throughout the day based on the information you input in your account settings : age, gender, height, current weight, activity level -- PLUS any activity calories you may add during the day. The Normal Calorie Estimate is the TOP number. The BOTTOM number is the runs from 0 at midnight to 0 the next midnight.
Use it to see how many calories (estimated) you are burning each day. (there is no archive of this number, so if you want to track it (it decreases as your weight decreases), then you will have to log it in your journal or elsewhere.
So, when I am on my "account home" page there is a blue box titled "Burn Meter." The TOP number is titled "total estimate" and the BOTTOM number has no title, just a caloric number.
My question is: does the "total estimate" number include the gym activities I have logged in for the day? That is how I interpreted your post.
Also, can you define what the two numbers represent? I was a bit confused by your post (especially where you said "the bottom number is the runs from 0 to midnight to 0 the next midnight").
Thank you x 3!
im not coach k, but
the way I get it is like this:
Saay the top number is your daily estimate..this is what you burn in a normal day, walking, breathing, heart pumping, blod circulating ///say it is 1600
NOW YOU ADD an activity....that is 300 calories burned, your estimate top number will now change to add the activity 1600 + 300 =1900.
say you do this mid day when it is at 800
you add the activity 800 + 300 =1100 mid day ( by midnight you will be at your 1900)
Nurse4:
Yes. So far as I can ascertain, the activity calories you are given when you pick one is based on your information in the system (I used a different site and changed up age/weight/height and it gave me different numbers than with my real info.
Oatmeal_bliss:
The top number is just what you interpreted -- your estimate plus any added activity calories. The bottom number is an actual running total of what you have already burned at that point in the 24 hours -- what Mel66 explained. If you look closely you can see that the bottom of the meter (under the dotted line) is actually a different color -- and as the day goes on that deeper color travels further up the meter.
i think you are talking about the activity log.
so if you burned 700 calories with exercise (which is in the activity log)
the other 2300 are the calories your body burns to keep you alive, pumping your heart, lungs, breathing, blood flowing etc.   ; our weight, height, activity level etc. are what calculates those calories, so if your weight changes, it will calculate a different calorie number.
hope this helps
