Burn meter?????

Can anyone explain the burn meter?????  I am confused, should it read the same amount of calories that I have already taken in , making them at or about the same amount at the same point in the day? 

For the Burn Meter, the small number next to Total Estimate is your expected burn by midnight tonight.  The larger number is the estimate of what you have burned based on the activity level and demographics that you entered in your account settings.

The Total Estimate and current burn numbers can be manually altered by entering activities.
