Your burn meter tells you how cals you burn each day(your basic expenditure), based on the info you inputted into the system when you did your account, PLUS any activity you add in.  The number below is a "minute" by minute of how many calories you have theoretically already burned throughout the day -- it runs midnight to midnight

When you say "basic expenditure", does that exclude exercise then?  Because I thought that estimate was based on your profile information which includes exercise in the descriptions under 'Activity Level'.  Basically I want to know if my exercise is being accounted for twice, once when I manually enter it in the 'activity log' and then again when the burn meter assumes that i am exercising several times per week.
It counts the exercises you enter item by item, but you shouldn't log an exercise unless it's "above and beyond" what you put down as your normal expenditure.  For example ... during the course of a day I walk a couple of hours at my job.  In my profile I chose "light activity".  I do not log the time I walk at work because it's covered in my profile.  I do, however, log the several times a week I come home and swim.

The reason I'm confused is that the 'Activity Level' we indicate in our profile includes an 'exercise' section in the description. So I picked 'moderate activity' because the description for it said "Exercise - you exercise several times a week and push yourself pretty hard". So should I separately log the several times a week when I exercise or is the burn meter including those exercise sessions when it computes my expected caloric expenditure?

These are the very questions I have.  You guys are great for sharing on this.

A lot of people put their activity level down as sedentary and log each and every little thing that they do.  (If you ever noticed in the activity browser, it also includes sitting on the toilet.  Surprised)  For me it's easier to enter light activity in my profile and log only that which is above and beyond a "normal" day.  If I ran for 30 minutes every day I would likely choose a higher activity level and not log the running.  But I don't exercise every day.
