The burn meter simply tells you a) how many calories you can expect to burn in a 24-hour period, and b) how many calories you have burned currently for the day.

The little figure is what you will have been expected to burn by the end of the day (midnight) and is based on the information you put into the settings (activity level etc) So mine, for example, says Total Estimate: 1840 cal. The big number will keep changing throughout the day as it is clocking up the amount you are expected to burn as the day goes on. So mine at the moment is showing as 934 cal as I am about 1/2 way through the day.

I wouldn't worry about the bigger burn number as it is the total for the day that is more important. So long as, at the end of the day, there is a deficit between the smaller burn figure and the bigger eat meter figure you should lose weight (or alternatively, if you wanted to gain, the eat meter figure is higher than the small burn meter figure).
