Burn Meter Question

Quote  |  Reply

Hello, my question is what does the large number in my burn meter represent?

There's a smaller number that shows what I think are my basic required calories, in my case 2300 in black. Then further down in the blue burn meter box are large white numbers, what do they represent?

The way I've been reading it is the numbers in black are what your daily average is based on what you put in your profile as your activity level. The numbers in white are how many calories you have burned during the day so far. So when you add an activity the numbers in black increase because the activity is added to your daily average, the numbers in white will should increase a little as well.

The Daily Goal (small top number) of your Eat Meter is the amount of calories you chose as your Target Daily Calories in your Account Settings.

The bottom number is the actual amount of calories that you have eaten (or logged).   You should try to keep this number above 1200 calories (female)/1500 calories (male).  This is the recommended healthy range for dieting.  The more you weigh and the more active you are, the more calories you will need.

The top number of the Burn Meter is the total estimated calories you will burn the entire day.  This number is based of the activity level that you chose in your Account Settings.  This number will increase as you add activities to your Activity Log

The bottom number displays how many calories you have burned up to that point.  The time will be displayed right below the meters.

A great way to stay on track is to make sure that your Eat Meter is less than your Burn Meter.  As long as you have a deficit, you will lose weight.  The smaller the deficit, the slower you will lose as well as the larger the deficit the faster you will lose.  The recommended deficit is between 500-1000 calories.  But it is not necessary to stick with that amount.  The key is to maintaining a healthy deficit.  :)

thank you for responding, that makes sense, and I suspected as much.

But what threw me off is the lower number (large white number) in my burn meter is almost 2000.  and we aren't supposed to have more than 1000 calorie deficit right?

A healthy deficit range is 500-1000 calories.

What does the top number on your Burn Meter say?  Does this number include any exercise or activity that you have added to your activity log?

well the top number is growing along with my activity level Smile.  In the beginning the top number was 2300 now it's 2700.

and my lower white number is over 2000 now.  what's going on?

Are these daily values or perhaps combined over the week?  I'm confused.

The top number of the Burn Meter (Total Estimate) will stay the same unless you add activity.  The more activity you add, the more this number will increase.

The bottom number is what will increase as the day goes on because it is up to the minute as to how many calories you have burned so far that day.

The top number of the Eat Meter will not change unless you go into your Account Settings and change it.

The bottom number will only change as you add foods.

You want your bottom number of your Eat Meter (once you add all the foods) to be no more than a 1000 calories less than the top number of your Burn Meter

The Eat Meter/Burn Meter only reflects that day's totals.  It will start over at midnight.
