I was wondering if brisk walking for at least an hour and a half throughout a day is enough to push me from sedentary to light without the gym time.

I think it does.
However, to be safe, I would leave your CC status as sedentary and add in each day any activity that you do. That way you know more precisely how much you need and how much you burn.
