This website recommends that I eat 1450 calories per day, but my burn meter estimates that I will burn 2600 calories with all the activities I've logged! Could this be a mistake? Should I stop logging every little activity I do, like walking the dog, sleeping, cleaning, or sitting at the computer? I just started this yesterday, and I fear I may be doing it wrong!

I'm a female, 23 years, 5'51/2" and 173 lbs, and I'm confused as to why the burn meter is so high?!!

The recommendation is based on the activity level you tell it. If you set it to sedentary, then add activity, the burn meter will know it, but the calorie target tool won't.
I set my activity level to light activity because I work at a daycare and I walk around a lot during the day and pick up babies often. Should I only log activities that are above and beyond this level, such as morning workouts and long walks or other strenuous activities?
Yes. If you set it to light, the burn is assuming you are doing light walking for a portion of the day. It is also assuming you're doing things like sitting at the computer/sleeping, etc. Only put in extra activity beyond a light activity level.

Just to quote for my own verification then, if I have it set to sedentary, then there is no point to logging all my sedentary actions, and I should only log stuff such as walking/exercise and the like?

Ok, well today I only logged activities that were above and beyond my light activity level. The burn meter still says that I will burn about 2450 today. Does this mean I should eat more than my recommended 1450 calories?
It's entirely up to you... how do you feel with a thousand calorie deficit? Some people can make it work, others have to stick to 750 or 500 because they get too hungry... Just make sure that you don't have any MORE than a thousand calorie deficit.

Hello, I just added you as a friend and you have some amazing progress. If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing to get those great results. I am 5'5 and I weigh 228 lbs. I have been a member since Feb. 18th, but I have not lost but 2 lbs. My eat meter says that I should be eating around 2150 calories a day and that is what I have been doing. Do you think that maybe I should cut it down to maybe around 1500 calories to get faster results? What am I doing wrong. Please help. Thank you for your time.

How often should you eat during the day?

It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
