Hi! Im probably just being really thick, but why is there a discrepancy between the number of calories I have used on the Burn meter, and those I have recorded as being burnt on the activity log? I want to get a rough gestimate of the total burnt per day, but im not sure how to work this out! Any help would be great :) Thank you!
p.s I have looked at other forum posts, but I cant seem to work it out.
there is a discrepancy because:
you burn calories all day and all night -- regardless of whether you are exercising, walking, or lazing in bed. So every minute of every day is accounted for.
When you exercise, you will add your exercise minutes to the log -- but you can't double dip -- so the minutes you spend exercising (and the calories) are substituted for the ones that you would have burned anyway.
purely example...
Daily Burn Estimate = 2000 cal
Hourly calorie burn = 2000/24 = ~84 calories per hour
Exercise for 1 hour = 275 calories burned
change to burn estimate = 2000 + 275 - 84 = 2191 (NOT 2275)
there are some variations, however -- this is the gist of it all
This was sooo helpful! I have been trying to figure it out and now I feel so dumb.
Thank you!
I learned something here, too. I had never looked at it this way. Thanks, Coach_K.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
