How does the Burn meter work?
Yesterday was my first day here and I'm still trying to figure out how things work. Ive got a lot of it figured out but the "burn meter" really confuses me. Why does the number constantly fluctuate? Even if I don't add anything is goes up and up and I don't understand what its doing.
Help?

Yesterday was my first day in here too and I have spent most of yesterday and all of today trying to find out what that is too !! I have emailed the site and not yet had a reply but I am wondering if it is how many calories (approximately) you will have used during the day, which is why the figure goes UP. This may NOT be right cos there are TWO figures in that box!! If you get the answer please let me know.
Thanks and good luck.
OOh yes, another query is that I am in the UK, which the site knows cos that info goes into our profiles but the clock counter is based on USA times so I'm not sure how my 'day' fits in there...Anyway, still a really useful site
Usually theres a place you can set it so its at your time. If I find it I'll tell you where it is.

From what I understand, it is estimating your amount of calories burned based on your energy level (the one you entered in the profile- moderate, etc). It goes up as the day goes on to account for estimated daily activities. Of course, the more you do in addition to your normal activity (i.e. gym, weights), the higher the number is (if you enter it in the log).
Good luck
Wow. Thats really simple. =]
Thank you so much!

the top number is the estimated calories you burn in one day, and, yes this is based on the information you gave. Age, weight, sex, activity level all come into place. The numbers keep going up during the day as you burn calories. This is just by being. Like when you eat, your daily chores.
What I do is I set it to sedentary and then add my calories burned (not an exact science, by any means) on my workout days.
Hope this helps.

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
