Burn rate when breastfeeding?
Hey!
I wish to heck they had a breastfeeding activity to add!
Anyone know what the burn rate for a 5"6 139 pound woman would be when breastfeeding??
Apparently, without bfing and looking after a toddler, I'm burning 1800 cals a day and I've been eating about 1500 give or take.
Any wisdom to impart??
Thanks,
Mer
How often are you nursing? Exclusively? How old is your baby? You need to factor in everything. It can be between 300 and 500 calories a day. I'm nursing my 16 mo. old once a day (trying to wean), so I don't worry too much about the burn. However, keep in mind that losing weight may alter the composition of the milk, as well as the taste! Find a reputable breastfeeding website and see what they have to say about dieting and exercising while nursing!
Good luck!

I don't know much about breastfeeding or the calories it burns (maybe in a few years...I'm a newlywed!), however, CC has a forum just for you (where the people might be a bit more knowledgeable about this particular subject than on the weight loss forum). It is the Pregnancy and Parenting Forum:

Can I lose weight by walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes twice a day?
You will lose weight if your calorie intake is less than your calorie output. By walking on the treadmill for 40 minutes, you (personally... Read more
