You are not eating enough!

Minimum for female is 1200

Minimum for male is 1500

What you should be eating is dependent upon your age, height, activity level.  You are actually starving yourself...Not a good thing.

2000 calories is not too much to burn....  Your problem is that you need to eat more!

Why are you doing this to your body?

The minimum calories for female teenagers is 1500 calories per day; the minimum calories for adult women is 1200 calories per day.

How old are you? You are seriously endangering your health by eating only 600 calories per day ... and your metabolism will be ruined unless you start eating a healthy number of calories.

If you are an adult, you can use the tools on this site to see how many calories you are eating. If you are under 18, there are some links in the Young Calorie Counters forum for teens to see how many calories they should be eating.

Trust me ... healthy weight management is definitely the best way!

600 calories is definatly not enough! If you've put your details into CC then it should tell you how much you need depending on age, weight etc. But it shouldn't be less than 1200 for women and 1500 for men. And if you're doing exercise then you should eat more calories....having a deficit of about 500-1000 a day after exercise is healthy.

im 15. and 1500 sounds like alot. mabey its cause of my past eating disorder but i dont think that i can handle that. how do you get up to that number?

Definitely not only too many cals to burn but also you are eating too little.

Trust me, when I started on Calorie Count also I thought one needed to starve themselves to lose weight but it just isn't true! Sure you should make sure you have a deficit but only from 500-1000 calories a day with a base intake of no less than 1200 for a petite small adult.

As said above you need to eat no less than 1200 calories a day and at least 1500+exercise if you are a teenager (probably closer to 2000 calories) in order to develop properly.

Calorie-Count is all about healthy and sustainable weight management.   Please be aware that this website does not support starvation eating patterns.

Since you are eating so little with such a high burn rate you will either make yourself ill. Here is awebsite explaining what happens when one undereats for a long time:

  • The Body Neglected (explains what happens when you undereat a long time)
  • Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions on how to lose weight healthfully!

I agree with everyone.  It would be pretty much impossible to fit enough micro- and macro-nutrients into a calorie load that small.

Like lozibeth said -- creating a calorie deficit is one thing, but it should not exceed 500-1000 cal's.  That means that if you have a gruelling day (say you're a triathlete, or a mountain climber etc), you might burn upwards of 3000 calories, then you need a  LOT more calories to compensate for your energy expenditure so it won't dip below your needs and leave you gasping on the asphalt.

If you undereat, your body will burn valuable muscle for fuel -- muscle you need not only to move you around for the next 80 years, but muscle that burns calories.  If you want to be a lean, mean, calorie-burning machine, get thee to thy gym!!

Fit, strong, athletic people eat lots of healthy food:  about 15-22 calories per pound of bodyweight per day from lean protein, fibre-rich fruits, veggies, whole grains, and unsaturated fat.  You need tons of vitamins and minerals, esp. calcium, to support your body while you're dieting, especially if you're still growing -- which is into your early 20's.

You can be lean and eat like a champion -- when great food fuels an active lifestyle, the results are dazzling!!

You get up to a reasonable number by telling yourself that food is necessary for your body to function.  Start by adding 50 or a 100 calories today that you wouldn't normally eat.  Make it a piece of string cheese or a handful of nuts.  After you've had a few healthy calories if you want to you could also add a piece of chocolate.  Tomorrow, have that same extra amount plus just a bit more.  Keep it going.  Foods that make it easier to add calories are frequently referred to as calorie dense. Nuts, cheese, chocolate, avocados.  Because the overall volume is smaller it's easier when you haven't been eating enough to add these foods in without feeling stuffed or bloated.  Also, if you're having the non-fat or low-fat versions of anything, now is a good time to switch up to a higher fat content.  Your body does need fat and carbs in addition to protein (common diet myths) in order to function properly.  You can certainly avoid the processed carbs and try to get the healthier fats in your diet, but please make sure that you don't eliminate them.  If you eat salad, make an olive oil dressing, this will get you a good dose of healthy fats and a few extra calories.

I'll bet a nickel that you don't eat breakfast and probably not much for lunch. (I was an idiot in college and would skip breakfast and have diet pepsi and crackers for lunch! 700 calories was my goal. Oh yeah, THAT was a recipe for long term success, NOT!) Have at least three MEALS and two good snacks. You shouldn't have any problem getting 1500 calories. You will loose weight, it just won't be all in two weeks. You really don't want to do that anyway.

OMG!!!  you are going to whither away!!!  :(  you really DO need to eat more!!!  and then exercise is good too...  i hate exercise, but i'm working on it...

just be yourself & enjoy!!!  don't be depriving yourself of anything!...  don't worry, i'm sure you look great already!!!  and go have a whopper  :D  with cheese.
