Why is My Butt Numb?

Quote  |  Reply

Okay.

I have NO FEELING in my lower butt/upper back thighs.

Does anyone know why?

I go on an hour-long walk and do a 30 minute Pilates session daily, so it's not like blood flow or anything...

Over the summer I progressively lost feeling and now I can barely feel anything when I pinch my butt with my fingernails.

AHH - Help!

Go to the doctor.

I concur with Jewels -- there are several neurological problems which could manifest themselves with numbness in the extremities, probably none of them good.  On the other hand, it is entirely possible that it is nothing -- but in the interest of your health, a doctor should be the one determining that.

go to the doctor -- sooner rather than later

It sounds like you've got a pinched nerve or a disk problem in your back... Do you have any pain or just the numbness? Go to the doctor and get checked out - you need to take any kind of back problem seriously.

I agree that you should go to the doctor.

I have the same problem, not all the time, just when I am walking sometimes. Usually my butt and legs only go numb after I have been walking a long time, such as when I am finishing a 10 mile hike, something like that. It goes away when I stop walking. (I don't know if that is the case with you or if goes numb for no reason?)

The other day it happened after just 20 minutes of walking on flat ground. I went to the doctor and she said it was just nerve irritation and it was fine, and that it would get better as I continued to lose weight.

It's probably nothing.. but you need to go and rule out the other possibilities for your own peace of mind!
