I am new to this counting calories thing. What is the best kind of butter to use in cooking/eating? I don't eat it alot, but I always wonder what kind I should get?
If you're going to use butter when you're counting calories you'll find you can only get away with pretty tiny amounts!! A teaspoon is about 40 cals. So, with that in mind, buy the best quality unsalted dairy butter you can afford - organic if it's available - and then when you do decide to use it, it'll be worth every bite.
Thanks, GI-Jane. I really don't use it that much. You just see so many on the shelves.......it is hard to know what if best for you all around.
What I have in the fridge right now is Smart Blance Light with flax. 50 calories for a tablespoon and 5 grams of fat. No partially hydrogenated oils. It's good enough for me :)
We use olive oil for any cooking anddon't use butter at all.
I use Tillamook unsalted ;)
