Buy it how you like your peanut butter.

I personally like Justin's Natural Almond Butter I buy it in the pre portioned "squeeze packs".  It prevents me from double dipping.  If portion control isn't an issue for you try you local organic/health food stores, they usually have fresh made.....that's the best!!!!!

As far as turkey goes I usually like buying it cooked. Usually found with the rotisserie chickens.  What are you looking to buy? A whole turkey? Ground? Breast? Legs? Frozen? Fresh? It all makes a difference. With meat a good rule of thumb for myself is to check the temp on the meat case before I even start looking at cuts.  (anything to warm and I walk away) Poultry you want to have a firm "plump" looking skin, not thin or dehydrated.  If the skin has been removed even color, no grayish spots and no smell. Kind of like fish the stronger the order the less fresh it is.  If its frozen ur looking  for since you can't see it I look at the freezer case it is in.  If anything looks like it might have freezer burn or the freezer itself has an ice build up I also keep walking.

Looking at the freezer case or refrigeration temperature when making almost any grocery purchase can save you from buying something not good.

I worked at a major supermarket for 11 years.  The things I learned of what is "acceptable".......very scary.

I prefer raw organic almond butter, and I buy mine unsalted.  In my opinion, that is best nutritionally, with a hint of the natural sweetness of almonds and without any added sodium.

thanks, ladies. now, i forgot that i can't buy bread. it is just a control issue as i love bread very much so i try to keep it out of the house. how can i eat almond butter in the mornings for breakfast?

Add to oatmeal, spread it on English muffins, use it (sparingly) as a topping for frozen waffles, add a tablespoon to a smoothie.

cellophane_star, great suggestions. thanks.

Nut Butters also taste great on apple slices.

I have mine spread on Wasa Fiber, or brown rice cakes, topped with sliced cucumber.  If I'm craving something sweet, I drizzle a little honey on top instead.  I also have it along with some celery or baby carrots.  Sometimes, I make an asian vinaigrette with it (use it instead of peanut butter).
