Where do you buy your jeans?
After having my daughter in January I lost more weight than I had intended. Now my pre-pregnancy pants don't fit so I had to go shopping for new ones. I used to shop mostly at Banana Republic & Gap but their size 0 is now to large. It is weird shopping at junior stores (Billabong, Abercrombie, Hollister, etc) but they are the only shops that seem to carry bottoms that fit me well. It forces me to dress a little "hipper" but I did have some success yesterday. I bought my first pair of skinny jeans & they are actually pretty cute. I have never owned a pair before because when I was in high school the tapered look was out-dated. I also had to give in and purchase a pair of prematurely ripped jeans which I find a little silly but that is what kids are wearing these days.
I want to know what other peoples experiences have been with shopping for pants/shorts/jeans? Is there a store you really like...one you really hate? Is there a style you find flattering on your body type?
Reason: Locked at the OP's request.
I can't find a size 0 to fit ANYWHERE.
What have they done to my jeans?
LOL CDC, I feel the same way!
Sarjane ~ Have you tried Old Navy? They carry impossibly small sizes for women/juniors so you should be able to find a zero in their jeans. They also carry XS in women's shirts. If you are looking for more 'hip' stores, you could try Aeropostle. I've neve worn their jeans but I know a lot of people who love them. I have no idea if they carry small sizes though.
A zero at Old Navy does not fit but the stores that I posted above like Abercrombie & Hollister carry a 00 and those fit. I should try Aeropostle...my sister loves their jeans. I have bought a lot of tank tops from there this season.
Crazydiamond- you should look for a 00. At first I thought that meant they would be short (I am 5'6) like a petite size but you can buy 00 LONG or Regular. Just to save you some time I can tell you that American Eagle DOES NOT carry a 00, Abercrombie DOES, Hollister DOES.
Jeez, I just go to Goodwill and try on what's in my size. I don't know what you call different styles of jeans but I know I like neither the low-rise kind that you show a thong off with (too mainstream-girl-trying-to-be-sexy) or these new high-waisted "mom jeans" looking things they have now. I just want regular jeans, though in any color but blue. (I have black, purple, and red.)
I buy jeans at department stores. I look for the ones that come in "European" sizes and have stretch in the fabric. Usually they are more expensive, but at least they fit (with the occasional need to get the waist taken in).
For that reason, I only buy jeans once a year, usually at the beginning of the fall - so when I do, I look for simple styles, and something that will last for a while, not something "trendy". I also am very careful about washing them, so they last longer (and because they cost so much!)
im 46 but i have to buy in the junior department for the length, which is fine, i like low rise but not low low rise.
i used to make my daughter sit with her butt to the store mirror for a crack check. she makes me do the same thing just for payback :)
i think i was a size 0 in 5th grade for maybe two weeks.
6 more lbs and i will be back in my 9s WITHOUT the muffin top.
i have found long jeans at charlotte russe and rue 21.

You're just jealous, obviously. (more sarcasm, btw)

when i was in 5th grade, size 0 didn't exist in stores. my mother owned a women's wear store; she never carried anything smaller than a 5 (i know, because she sold the store before i was old/big enough to benefit). she probably could have got 3s, but there was no market for them.

i think i should post a thread about where to buy a hat to fit my gigantic brain.
riiiiight pg.
i think they were equivalent to a size 10 or 12 in the girls section back then.
if i ever was a size zero, it would have been when i was about 10yo.
EDIT: i think they have big hats at aber-zombies...
The only way I would be self-glorifying was if I considered a 0 better than any other size. Would you have considered me "dumb" if I had said that I was a size 14 and couldn't find jeans that fit me? No, you wouldn't have. You may have even offered up advice or moved onto another post.
I was really looking for help because just like everyone else on this website I have issues that I want to discuss with others. Sorry Crazydiamond that i didn't catch your sarcasm. I usually consider people good & kind; I don't assume people are trying to hurt others intentionally. I don't know why you would try to put down a complete stranger you don't know. There is just so much negativity in the world and in our everday lives I don't know why anyone would like to add to it if not necessary.
Pgeorgian...if you posted something about looking for a hat to fit your gigantic brain you wouldn't find any negative comments from me. I would have read the post, thought "I don't wear hats...no help here", and then I would have continued on.
And hotfuss...of course I don't think you're jealous. For all I know you're one of those women that maintain weight in all the right places and are a knock out in a bikini. Most people don't like to be a size 0 because they prefer curves. I'm shaped like a little boy with stretch marks from two pregnancies and nonexistent breasts from feeding those babies.
Not sure if they carry your size, but my favorite jeans are from Express and The Buckle. If I remember correctly I do think Express has the smaller sizes you are looking for. Good luck!
sorry sarjane, I am fighting to get into a size 7/8 again and when I see these posts 99.8% of the time its from an attention getting EDer or something. My sarcasm switch flips easier than all my other switches.
I do not mean to hurt, I just need a laugh.
Apologies if it was at your expense. You should keep in mind that its a tad bit offensive to post (on a weight loss site) how you're a ZERO when the rest of us can't get into a 12 or more. It comes off as you rubbing our (mine at least) noses in it.
Its a simple web search to find where you can get certain sizes.
And guess what? you can be 7/8 with no curves too. I'll show you in a few months.
I love Buckle and they ususally carry a good variety of brands that will fit different shapes so you might do good there I'm not sure about a size 0 as I dont wear there but I'm pretty sure they do.
Buckle has two-fer sales right?
i think thats the only time my daughter will even look in there. their jeans are pricey. i know she saw a pair she loved but they were $105. she certainly didnt spend that much of her own money on them and she didnt get them for xmas from me either. as if.

No two-fer's lol that would be nice, but I'm grown and my jeans are one thing I will spend more money for cause they fit better, look better and last longer, for me that is I cant speak for everyone. But I figure I work hard and most of my money goes to my babies so if I wanna buy them hey my money. $105 is actually pretty good for them they do have a buckle brand that is cheaper though.
Thank you crazydiamond for responding. I was afraid that if I posted anything else it would just lead to more drama so I am very grateful to see your response.
I didn't mean to offend anyone either. That is why I went into this lounge and not one of the ones listed as "weightloss" or "fitness". I also didn't want to write "Hey all you people who are my size" in my title because I thought THAT would lead to some criticism. I had thought that maybe I would make a stir but then I thought people would only be offended if they wanted to be a size zero and I that's not something I wanted to assume. I think a woman with an ideal BMI that is my height is supposed to be a size 6 or something.
I understand people getting frustrated with women writing posts like "Is 500 calories enough?" because obviously its not healthy and I think most of us get that big sister feeling that makes us want to shake the crazies out of them (especially if we know just how dangerous it is and what it could potentially do to their bodies) but I am not an ED case.
After I had my daughter I started training for a 1/2 marathon and I have a little frame. I am not dieting...just counting calories to make sure I am consuming what I burn...and enjoying socializing with other people who are health concious for one reason or another. I don't get to sit down with friends and talk about this stuff because they aren't interested. When I come on here I know my audience consists of people that have logged on specifically to envelope themselves with this sort of chat.
Well anyways. Thank you for not jumping down my throat. I hope you get down to that 7/8 if its something that will make you happy. I think its important to examine what you really want...if you're healthy where you are now (you're active, you eat properly) then you should really consider whether or not a 7/8 is worth the fight.
