Buying clothes that are too small for you
Today i was trying on formal dresses (formal is on the 1st of September)
I tried on a size 16 that was a little bit too big
and a size 14 that was a little bit too small.
I put the size 14 on layby, but i was thinking of swapping it for a size 12.
At the moment, i weigh 75kg, at 5'6. and by the 1st of september, i want to have lost 10kg (in 10 weeks)
Should i put the 12 on hold?.. or just keep the 14, and alter it if it's too big?
ahaha, you made me smile ..really..
cause same thing happend to me !!!
for me, size 16 is too big for me now..so i went to 14..and it fit me very nice...then i went to try size 12 it was not 100% fit..or fit in a little ugly way so i bought size 14..if i will loose more weight before sep. ill go and buy size 12..
go for the 14..
ps: i need to lose 10 kg in sep as well..but i think it will be untill nov. ![]()
Consistently losing a kg a week is hard! If altering the 14 is a viable option, stick with the 14 I think.
I bought a size smaller once because I anticiated loosing 10 pounds and it totally backfired. I swear it jinxed my weighloss. Go with the 14 then have it altered when you loose the weight.
if you saw my wardrobe you would def buy the 14.
Ive done nothing but buy clothes that are too small for too long and now very little of my clothes fit me cos im a 16 - 18 and they are all ranging form a 10 to 14. duh! !
buying clothes that are too small will encourage you to slim down but also puts an enormous amount of pressure on you.
In the end you risk getting depressed at the though of dropping dress sized in a limited amount of time. dont beat yourself up. labels are cruel. go for what fits best.
my advise is to go for the 14 and then once you a comfortable 14 aim fo the next size down
hope this helps!
i really should take my own advise ha ha x
good luck!
I would buy the 14 and also the 12. That's what I've had to do with my work suits when I have been between sizes and it has cost me a small fortune but it's been really nice stuffing the old "fat" size to the back of the wardrobe and then fitting into the smaller size after losing my weight. I threw all my frumpy size 16 suits away :)
I'm not a fan of buying things that are too small. Why? Because even if you get down to that size, you don't know how it's going to fit or look. Example. I had a pair of jeans in a 9 that were comfortable. I liked the jeans so I bought them in a 5 too. When I got down to the 5, the jeans looked AWFUL and I ended up having to return them. When you lose weight, styles that looked good on you when you were bigger, often don't when you get smaller.
If you don't need clothes and are just buying it for the sake of getting something new than I would wait until you get down to the size 12 before buying it, to make sure it looks good on you. Also, everytime I've purchased something in a size smaller it has jinxed my weight loss as well, I have too many sizes that are smaller than I am. If you need clothes at the moment I would buy the one that fits and then alter later.
Can you buy the 14 now & exchange it for the 12 if you get down to that size? I'm not normally superstitious, but I think in this case I would be. :D
Do you have to buy it now? Is it really THE must-have dress?
It might be much more fun to go shopping when you are a size 12 and have a try-on fest.
And even if that particular dress is gone, there are always beautiful dresses. I find when I buy something too far in advance, that by the time it comes to wear it I'm bored looking at it so am very tempted to get something 'new and shiny'.
Good luck with the diet. Hope you get there.
On the go andin the know.
