Buying "fat clothes"
So I NEED to get new clothes. Not bc I've lost a lot of weight...yet. But because I realize that I have NOTHING to wear!! Literally, I own two pairs of pants (one jeans and one khakis) and three of the same shirts in different colors.
I know I shouldn't feel guilty..but I do. Does any one else feel this way? And if so, how do you cope with it? I know I shouldn't deny myself from looking good now, but I feel like if I buy these clothes, I'm really telling myself that I'm not going to lose weight or something like that.
I'm exactly the same way. I refuse to go shopping for clothes because I don't want to acknowledge that I'm not skinny yet or something, haha. I will only buy tshirts that are tight on me so I can wear them for a longer time. I only have like 2 pairs of pants :(
ugh I'm exactly the same way!!
I keep telling myself there's no point to buying clothes now when I'm going to be losing weight. However, I'm not in the predicament that I currently have very little to wear.
I would suggest buying things that will still look great when you lose the weight (cotton sun dresses have been my uniform of the summer). Also, if you can buy a smaller size in something (it looks good now, and will still look good later) get it!! I do this with a lot of shirts (definitely harder with pants) and it has worked out pretty good.
If you seriously have THAT little to wear. Go for the shopping spree, every girl needs a wardrobe she's happy with!! But if you can swing some smaller sizes that you still feel comfortable wearing now, go for it!
same here!!
I have one pair of jeans that fit me at the mo and the zips broken on them lol, but I lost all the weight before so have more than enough clothes to slim into and I'm making do til then. I know if i buy something new now I'l use it as an excuse to put off dieting ... :S
I definitely hear you on this topic.I have steadily gained weight over the years, unfortunately, and never bought clothes.I was too embarrassed to buy clothes or try them on, crying in the dressing room sucks.I look at the skinny girls in the store, get mad at MYSELF, and leave.yup, it sucks. But then I wondered why my husband never takes me anywhere nice.He says, honey you have nothing to wear but sweat pants now.you dont buy any clothes.soo..we went on a bit of a spree and i sucked it up and bought clothes that fit me and looked really nice too.i had to except my weight for now, but i wouldnt except my fate a fat person forever.i told myself this time next year i would drop quite a few sizes. But i need to make myself happy now.Right now, in this moment.
Go buy one new outfit. But hurry, it's the end of the summer season, sales will be on, but soon the back to school stuff will be out and as expensive as ever.
You deserve it!
go find some good consignment stores. you can get good stuff at great prices, and when you shrink out of them, you take them back and consign them yourself.
Well, how about going to a thrift store and buying stretchy things that you can wear as your lose weight? I got these cute cargo pants when I was heavier but since it has a stretchy band I can still fit into it now (even thought I'm 15 pounds lighter.)
Anyways, 2 pants and 3 shirts sounds depressing so why limit yourself to that when there's 7 days in a week....
Well, I go to the fat ladies clothes store, Avenue and buy clothes that are cheap and fit me and are comfortable. I hate tight clothes. I know I am going to loose weight! I do not have any smaller sizes that I am saving for that day, 'cause I am going to buy NEW clothes. Consignment shops have about 10 things in my size. At least the ones I go to. And they all look like old lady clothes!!!!! Yes, I don't have a lot of things to choose from, but I always look professional and not sloppy. That's a no, no for fat ladies. Throw away all those baggy clothes. Stand up straight and be proud, for we are invincible!!!!!!
I vote for second hand and thrift stores. I can't afford new clothes on a weekly or monthly basis. I have several "haunts" and I wait for their sales. I bet I haven't spend $100.00 on clothing (that includes shoes too) in the past year. I get a lot of compliments from my thrift store finds.
i was convinced by all of yall to finally get new clothes :) and i got a TON at old navy, they were having a huge sale. and its all stuff that will look good now and when i lose more weight. thanks everybody :D
sweatpants are my best friend with my thighs not liking almost all of the 20+ pairs of jeans/pants I have in my closet right now O.O

Good for you!
There is absolutely no reason to wait until you've lost weight to make yourself feel good. I have found that the better I take care of my appearance, the better I do with other self-care things like diet and exercise. Not to mention my posture is better, I smile more, I talk to people more, and my house is cleaner.
Hmm...maybe I should go shopping myself!
Yes, and don't forget to do something nice for yourself. Buy a bar of good smelling soap or some nice cream for your feet. Remember to take care of your feet. It can be a small thing, but it means that you feel that you are worth it!
