So I saw at the store they have a package of cactus leaves in the produce section by all the fresh herbs. I've been dying to try them cuz I LOVE experimenting with different exotic foods, but I have no idea what to do with them. Has anyone ever tried cactus leaves before, and what did you do with them? What did they taste like?

cactus leaves? i live in the middle of the desert and i've seen a lot of cactus but i don't think i've seen any leaves... are they like prickly pear pads?

I have eaten some sort of mexican cactus tamale before, and prickly pear jelly but i have never made it myself.

http://www.succulent-plant.com/crecipe.html this has some recipes.

 http://www.practicallyedible.com/edible.nsf/p ages/cactusleaves describes the flavor.

anyway from what i remember it wasn't really that different of a taste. the jelly especially just tasted like something you could go buy at the grocery store. i dont think the flavor is reallly all that shocking and im sure it would be easy to get used to.

Look up recipes for nopales.

Personally, I don't like them...
