600 cal.?
Lets say that its dinner time, and you've only had 600 cals. that day..but you don't feel hungry...should you eat, and your body will burn off whatever or should you just stay with the 600 cals. for the day?
Eat! Even though you may not be feeling hungry, your body still needs fuel to meet it's metabolic needs and proper hormone excretion.
i think you know the answer but i'll say it anyway EAT!! if i sat and ate 400 calories worth of lettuce i'd be STUFFED for days...but would that mean i shouldn't eat? absolutely not, physically i'd be full but i'd still be malnourished since those 400 calories wouldn't have provided me with my daily nutrients so you need to eat regardless and take a look at WHAT you're eating that is making you so full and stop eating so much of it because starving yourself is not going to be beneficial in the long run. hope this helps :)
Irregular eating isn't a good weight-loss strategy ... regular meals are much more effective. If you stayed at 600 cals for the day the most likely outcome would be that you overate badly the next day.
Gi-jane - Thanks, but I do not irregularly eat. For about a few weeks I've been eating about every 3 hours. And I've felt really hungry, then all of a sudden it comes my time to eat dinner, and I'm not hungry - and I still needed at least 600 cals. more. Its so weird.
Chrissy1988 - Thanks. Yeah, I figured. But the thing is, I'm scared to eat when I'm not hungry, cause then it prob. won't burn. Idk...very confusing.
Acretin - Thanks... yes, and my metabolic needs according to CC is 1600, so I'm a long way from there...lol :P
For a year now I've been having evenly spaced meals of about 600-700cal each and snacks spaced in between the meals of about 150-200cal each. My total calorie intake is easy to match my activities and I'm rarely hungry. Like the saying goes..."I'm eating to live not living to eat". Never felt better.
You should make sure you have a balanced caloric intake to match your activity level.
Yes, it could of been that. I usually don't realy do much hard activity but yest. went for a 35 min. hike around the complex I lived involving a lot of uphill, which was in the afternoon, and I had only eaten about 500 that day...and my metabolism burns about 1620 a day...so yeah I figure.
When you eat has nothing to do with burning calories. The time of day doesn't matter.
See the Advice section: Ask Mary I searched the archives for eat at night, but you could try another search. She really explains it well.

I think you know the answer already. Yes eat more. Eat a minimum of 1200 calories per day. Actually since you are 16 years old eat 1500 calories MINIMUM per day.
I find that exercise often curbs my appetite, also sometimes I'm hungry and I ignore it which leaves me low on calories so I make them up. While that has some benefits if I've managed the minimum intake for my age (yours is 1500 + your exercise) I make sure that I don't have a deficit over 1,000 calories per day either. Sometimes you just have to eat even when you're not hungry because the math says you should and you know that your body does need the calories.
After you start eating a consistent amount of enough calories you will end up rewiring your body to properly acknowledge and use the hunger signal.

If I wasn't hungry, why would I eat? No...I would not. Your body will make up for it the next day, believe me. You'll be hungry when your body needs norishment.

Please read before you post. In this instance, the op has a history of undereating. It is not appropriate to encourage this for the sake of her health. If you read her other posts you'll find a pattern of undereating which is the reason why respondents on this thread are not encouraging more of the same.
If you typically maintain a 500-1000 calorie deficit while still meeting the minimum calorie intake for your age and gender, then an occasional day of going under is fine, much like an occasional day of overeating.
if you do be ready to eat alot tomorrow or the next day. always happens to me when i do this. yesterday started TTOM and i felt sick and not hungry. this morning i woke up starving, and ended up eating more than i wanted to today, which probably would have been prevented had i made sure i had eaten enough yesterday. oh well, live and learn!
Eat when you are hungry, don't when you are not. Its a very basic biological drive we have had bashed out of us by well-meaning parents who spin us yarns about starving orphans in Africa. Listen to your body:it really does know best.
You need to eat! You don't feel hungry when you are starving yourself to death.
Seriously i feel like what are people thinken ?
Did you realy need to ask this question?
Did you realy think it was ok to just eat 600 calories for a day?
just tired of seeing these opics about hey i ate 400 calories is that enough lol

Excuse me?? I read her post. And I replied to it. I don't eat unless I am hungry, and I don't recommend that anyone do that unless they are ill, and if that is the case, they should be under a doctor's care.
Y OU may have a different view. That's what a forum is for.
