90-100 cal packs?College food?

Quote  |  Reply
I recently bought some of those convinient packs to take to college. What are your favorites? I don't know how healthy they are, but I got some rice cakes(cinnamon streudel) those should be healthy? I bought some special K bars for breakfast ands plan to get some yogurt. Whats the best stuff to stash in a dorm fridge?

Sorry about the double post, I dont know how to get rid of it!

The yogurt is the only thing on that list that I'd consider real food.

If your school is in a remote area, then I understand that's probably the best you can do, but if you're at in an urban area, it's best to find a supermarket once you get there, and stock up on real food. If you're in a remote area, take tupperware to the dining hall with you and steal veggies.

Do you have access to a stove or microwave? If so, then rolled oats would be a better breakfast choice than the Special K bars.

Things that'll go well in a dorm fridge:

Fruits, veggies, natural peanut butter, hummus, cheese

I'm also in the same boat for college.  :)  I plan on getting some more rice cakes and special K as well, although rolled outs sounds like a good idea.

It sucks living on rez because (I don't know about for you) we have no oven.

Yeah I would say when you get there get lots of fruits and veggies, because you can eat a lot of them and it doesn't have to many calories.  :)

Good luck with your college-ness!  I hope mine works out good too!
I just need snacks and breakfasts for the weekends. I am not able to have a microwave in my room so I don't know about rolled oats. I plan on having fruit fresh and dried and carrots as snacks too.

Yum! Hummus! I want to make some before I go.

No microwave!! That is rough.

Anyways, I've had those cinnamon rice cakes and they are awesome!

If you are on a meal plan, you can get good fruits and veggies if they have a salad bar. Buy some of your own light dressing to keep in your fridge, there usually isn't a good light dressing selection.

What about some fiber one cereal? I prefer to eat it with my yogurt. It really fills you up.
