What is Calorie Camp?

Calorie Camp is a platform that lets you share your food and activity reports with the community. You can set personal goals and earn badges and points for accomplishing tasks.

Why should I share my reports with the community?

By sharing reports and comments, you will enable as much support from the community as possible. When you know friends and other users of Calorie Camp will be seeing your reports and commenting on your progress, it holds you more accountable for your actions and increases the likelihood of achieving your goals. Not only will your motivation be improved with positive and supportive feedback, but it will allow you to help and learn from others as well. You can decide not to share your reports at any time with anyone (For more details read #6 below).

I always want my food reports to be private, can I opt out of Calorie Camp?

You have two options before submitting your day to assign the privacy level of your report. By clicking on the button in the upper right hand corner, 'private', you can decide who you'd like to share your report with. If you don't want to submit a report, click the link underneath the submit button, 'don't share, just complete my day' and no daily report will be created.

Why can I only set three goals when I see other members have eight for the week?

At the beginning, you start with the ability to set three goals. As you complete each week, you will have the opportunity to add one more goal to your list. It is often easier to work on a small number of goals at a time and build upon those as you progress.

How do I graduate to the next week?

You can complete a week by either completing your goals for that week or by marking 5 days complete.

I marked a day complete but my report wasn't made public, why not?

If you do not post a comment, your reports will not be made public to the community. We highly encourage you to share your comments so that others will become more engaged in your progress. In addition, if you have consumed less than 1200 calories for the day (which is the bare minimum intake for a sedentary adult, according to the American College of Sports Medicine), your report will not be made public in order to minimize triggering those with disordered eating behaviors.

Who are my 'Supporters'?

Supporters are the users who have chosen to 'support' and receive your reports. You can also pick and choose whose reports you'd like to see. If you want to control who can see your reports, you can change your privacy settings. Each report can have its own privacy level, which you can change right before submitting the report. If you want to remove or change the privacy level of a report, you can un-complete and recomplete your day and choose the new level. Your reports will share your foods, activities, calories, and net calories but will not share your weight or any other personal information from your profile.

Can I use Calorie Camp on my mobile app?

We are in the process of adding Calorie Camp to our mobile apps. While some functionality such as the ability to 'like', 'comment', or 'support' others using your app may not be complete at this time, you can do so from our website.

Goals and Badges

What does my 'Target Net Calorie' goal mean?

'Target Net Calories' is the recommended amount of calories you consume minus the amount you expend through activity. You can set your activity level in 'Account Settings' which allows us to estimate your calorie expenditure throughout the day. If you are logging all of your activities, you are essentially manually calculating this number. Therefore, in order to increase the accuracy of calories expended, when logging activities, please set your activity level to 'Sedentary'.

I consumed an entrée that contained 3 servings of vegetables but I did not get a check mark next to my goal, why not?

The specific food items you can set goal intakes for like fruits, vegetables, nuts/seeds, and fish are calculated by which category the food is in. For the above example, the food item is found in the category 'Entrees' not 'Vegetables' and therefore, at this time, the system does not process that as a vegetable.

Okay, but I logged 2 cups of vegetables and I still didn't reach my goal, what gives?

The serving sizes are determined by what makes the most sense for each food group in our database for us to calculate most accurately. Vegetables: 90g weight, Fruit: 15g carbohydrates, Nuts/seeds: 1 ounce, Fish: 3 ounces

I didn't get a badge but I really think I deserved it, what can I do?

When you go to your badges page, you can hover over each badge to see what you need to accomplish to receive it. If you think you've accomplished one successfully or feel like our definition of a badge needs revisiting, please email us at CalorieCamp@CalorieCount.com with your feedback.
