I probably think more about my calves than my thighs, ever since I was about 14 I thought they were too big. I'm jealous of the women who can wear tall boots, and can even fit their jeans in them.
There's a thread for thighs, so thought I'd ask if anyone around 5'9 height would share their calf measurements :P
I still wear boots tho. I wear the short ankle type boots and mid calf boots. I just wear boot cut jeans will them. And I wear my boots 5 out of 7 days.
ETA: I just noticed you said jeans in the boots. Yeah I don't do that. Did when I was younger but not now.
it's like skinny jeans: yes, your thighs are as big around as my biceps, but that doesn't mean i want to see the outline of your crotch.
I'm 5'8, and my "man calves" (my friend's nickname for them. Not mine.) are 14" around at the widest point. They're very muscly though - I do sprints and play sports - so it doesn't bother me too much.
And I while I don't tuck boots into jeans, I do have a habit of tucking my jeans into my wellies! I have to trudge down a ton of country lanes to get to college (well, less trudge, most of the time its more of a sprint to get the train!), half of which are normally flooded, so wellies are a must, and wearing the jeans over those boots is just wrong! Not to mention, my jeans would get very muddy...
Boot remedy:
A cobbler (shoe repair) can put a gusset in a seam from the top and can insert a small, hidden elastic piece that will serve as a custom fit for your boots. Riders on horseback often develop clves that are larger than traditional boots - nothing at all to be worried about. Not expensive, and can make your boots feel wonderful and easy to get on and off.
wow, I knew I carried weigh in my legs, but now I feel like a big cow.........no, wait, even cows, by comparison, have thinner legs than me!
Ohio, I'm 5'6" and I've NEVER been able to wear boots in my entire life... I haven't even tried for years - but when I was a teenager (and at my thinnest, which was about your size) I STILL couldn't get any boots to fit me. I had one pair of cowboy boots that was extra wide, but that was the only pair of boots that I could EVER get over my ankles!
As of now I'm 234 pounds and my calves are down to 16 inches (they started out at almost 19.) My legs and arms are VERY slow to change size compared to the rest of me.
I'm 5' 5", 133 lbs, I have a small frame using the wrist measurement (5 3/4") but my calves are 14 7/8".
Gussetted boots look like crap when the gussets are stretched open. I have one pair of boots that I bought almost 20 years ago that fit my calves if I don't have any layers thicker than pantyhose under them. I've never found anything else in a store that fits. I would love a pair of boots to wear with dresses ('the' pair I have is kind of cowboy looking) but I would also want them to come up almost to my knee. If they cut off in the middle of your calf muscle, it just looks larger. Nearly all of the large calf boots I've seen online aren't very tall.
Yes, I have boot envy too. I just keep telling myself that they're so uncomfortable that I wouldn't want to wear them anyway.
oh I love to commiserate about my calves. I'm 5'2, 132lbs, and my calves are 17 fricking inches. They are also totally ripped because I run a lot. It's ridiculous. Around the midpoint of my thighs is only about 19-20!
I have tried on plus-shaft knee high boots, but they were too big and just looked like I was playing dress up in a much bigger person's boots. Normal boots have never zipped past where my calf starts, which is part of the problem..my legs are also really short. I am just grateful that I don't have cankles.
