Calling all Artists
If you are an artist, if you draw, paint, sculpt, do needlework, take pictures or any other art, or if you have an interest, I'd like to meet you!
Now that I'm retired, I've gone back to the drawing I love but didn't have time for. Here is a little of my WORK. Show me yours!

I could give two **** who Edgar ALLAN Poe is. It's not my creation.
dude, that's so not cool. sarah asked because she was interested. there's no reason to be defensive or mean in return.
I just started drawing too! Its a lot harder then i thought it would be... so so far still for me to go to catch up with some of the things i have seen o.O
It's wonderful to meet you all! I hope that we can see more links to pictures!
I'm gradually getting my groove back. A local university offers senior citizens an opportunity to audit classes for only $50, plus there is a $30 art materials fee, so it's very affordable. My class is taught by a nun. I was a little aprehensive that she'd have too many rules and would expect us to draw a bowl of fruit and talk about Andrew Wyeth (he lives near here). Every local art class I've looked into is besotted with the Brandywine Valley style of art. But what did I have to lose?
I was surprised and delighted. We did projects on graffiti, studied artists like Keith Haring, Chuck Close and Cy Twombly, the Cubists, and Hitler's reaction to German Expressionism. She emphasizes learning many different techniques and drawing what you see, and she has no rules! I never expected a free spirit at a Catholic womens school! My mind has been expanded along with my skills. I'm signing up for next semester and meeting with the department head to decide where to go from here.
You young people - don't give up on your art! Even if you end up in a boring office job for years, like I did, it will enrich your life.
wow, a graffiti-teaching nun! i'm impressed. i guess if there would be a free spirit at a catholic women's school, she would be in the art department.
Come to Chester County, PA, and you'll find that everybody loves his work. I've just seen so much of it that I'm a bit jaded. I actually like N.C. Wyeth's work better - he was an illustrator of some very famous books - Treasure Island for instance. You can see the work of all the Wyeths at the Brandywine Museum in Chadds Ford, PA

^ About my novel series (includes info on my writing and links to concept art by myself and others). :)
I just wish i could draw like those people you linked clairelaine...oh well...only way to get better is to just keep doodling. (Deviant art is a great place to look at other peoples work, lots of tutorials there and on the web to help people out)
Here is a nice deviant art resource i use sometimes.
lorik, have you ever seen a book called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain? It helped me a lot when I decided to go back to drawing. Some of the drawings I linked were done back in the 1980s - the fern, crocuses, dicentra and shells. I had that ability, then years of working in a job that required analytical thinking and exhausted me, killed it. I want it all back, and that book was a very big help.
There's a website
While my work has never been seen by anyone outside my home or my art class, I finally decided to upload some of my things to Deviant Art.

They are more like...quick sketches and rough things...I enjoy painting, drawing and sewing in my spare time...so...there you go. :)
Clairelaine, thank you for the nice comments on my work!
I looked at your drawings and I have to say the image with the 2 pears is my favorite of yours. Keep up the great work! It's so great you found a place that teaches art classes for a cheaper price - now if only I could find something like that!
Nasuoni, impressive work as well! You mentioned that you are learning Dreamweaver? Are you learning through the design side or the coding side? If you ever want to talk web design, feel free to message me! I've been designing websites for about 7 1/2 years now and still absolutely love it!

Nice drawing! You draw what you see and you have the foreshortening down pat. I like the foot and the exhausted man best.
Oh, creativity isnt too much of a problem for me....the big problam is lacking technical skills (i need a better understanding of anatomy and techniques on painting / color usage) Then still trying to figure out photoshop out, layers and color adjustments and faster ways to color a lineart... so so much to learn!
Traditional work is way too messy / slow for me. Digital you can make sketch after sketch and work in a lot of different / abstract ways (i work a lot in general airbrush...drawing the shadows and fuzzy form instead of hard outlines)
When you are ready to move onto computer, you could probably find a tablet for pretty cheap. Then download trials and use those (trials are great if you keep downloading them hehe, a little more work... but... its free! Get the benefit of a 500$ program without paying out of the nose).
I am just learning the basics from ...well...drawing a lot and reading up on free tutorials i find online.
Friday was the last class for the semester. I've signed up to audit again next semester, and our instructor says we'll be concentrating on portraits. I'm very excited about it. The portraits I've done in the past are too large to scan, but I'm thinking maybe I could have them reduced at the copier center, to a manageable size. I'd like you all to see them and maybe critique.
Does anyone else do portraits?
Thank you for your kind words Claire, I do appreciate it, it's weird having something I've done out on the web....
I, personally would love to see some of your portraits if that's possible. I like doing them myself and would love to see what others do.
