Lost over 30 pounds so far.  I work out at the gym 6 out of 7 days a week and keep track of everything I eat.  I've completely cut out soda and fast food and lots of other junk that I used to eat ALL the time before.
I've lost 37 lbs since Jan 14th.  And I have my weekly weigh in tomorrow, so I hope I'll have more news to post.  I exercise everyday, mostly walking.  I do lift some hand weights about twice a week, and visit the gym when I have the time.  I started out at 225 lbs, and I'm down to 188!  It's been at least 7-8 years since I weighed anything in the 180's.  I've always been a big girl, I weighed 175 when I was 16.  Now, I'm going for the lowest I've weighed since I was about 12 years old, and I'm almost halfway there!  I gave up soda completely.  I still eat all the time, because I like my snacks, but now I am much more careful what I eat.  I get between 1700-2100 calories a day, and I usually lose 2-3 lbs a week.  I do low fat, high quality, healthy food.  20% calories from fat/ 20% protein/ and 60% carbs, with an emphasis on complex carbs.  I still have my treats, I just work them into my daily allowance if I want them.  I don't have completely cheat days or cheat meals, I'll have one "cheat" item in a well balanced meal.  And that's about all i can think of to say! :)
I lost 152lbs through cutting calories, fat and doing lots of exercise! My life has changed so so much...I  have got my fitness back and enjoy running, cycling and the gym! I still eat my fave foods and don't deprive myself if I can help it
I've lost 106lbs by diet and exercise. I'm pretty sure diet and exercise are the only things you are going to be reading with this post.  47lbs more to go and I'll be estatic!

Congrats larrylou! That's amazing.  Wish you had profile pics.

I have lost 63 lbs since December 15th. 58 if you want to be technical, since my first official weigh in was 395 lbs, but my better eating habits started a few weeks prior to beginning and I can bet you anything that I was, at my largest, over 405-410 lbs.

Right now I weigh somewhere around 337lbs, through diet / exercise (mainly diet). I went from being severely depressed and eating ~5500 calories of fast food daily to eating between 1700-2000 a day (around a 1000-1200 calorie deficit, my BMR is about 2900). I still get in cardio when I can, usually ~4 times a week, however I've been busy lately.

Once I get under 300 (for the first time in what, 10 years? ... lol (I'm 23 for reference)) I will be joining a gym and start weight training, and upping my calorie intake significantly to facilitate muscle building. I am interested to see how quickly the weight falls off then versus how it does now. At my current rate of loss, around 3.2 lbs per week, I will be under 300 by July. Hooray! :)
Check out these articles :)
I have lost 153 pounds to date and my program is eating whole foods and keeping my net calories to between 1300 - 1500 per day.

The trek started for me when I divorced my husband and found myself.  The best day of my life!  I am since remarried to a wonderful man that is supportive and kind and I am one lucky girl.

I have another 30-40 to go depending on how I feel when I get to 160, currently at 193.

Have fun everyone!
I started at 320 and am now at 258.5.  I've lost 61.5 lbs since starting Jan. 8.  I've done it by sticking to 1200-1500 calories and walking 3 miles 5x a week.

I take a One-A-Day Weightsmart and drink diet green tea too, which actually did make a difference in weight loss for me.  The first 2 months I did neither and lost 28lbs.  The 3rd month alone I lost 22 and that was the only changes.
I have losts 30lbs total..My highest weight was 224....I have done a lifestyle change.  Lots of fruits and veggies and fish, chicken, etc....I either walk or use my ellpitical machine for a total of 30 minutes atleast 6 days a week.  Sometimes I go longer.  I try to give myself one day off a week.  I log my food and just keep as active as I can.
Thank you catsy22 for starting this post. I am in a slump and really needed to read some success stories. Thank you all for your replys, you're my motivation to get back on the wagon and get this done.
ME TOO!  I've been doing this over a month and feel like I'm getting nowhere...I have not lost a pound...i was 183 when I started and now this morning the scale says 181 though yesterday it was saying 185!!  So which one's right?  Probably 183 still!  But these stories really make me wanna keep goin!  THANK U!  ANd congratulations to all of you-you were consistent and yoiu worked sooo hard.  It truly is special to hear the stories of people who actually want to change their life for the better and has!
I have lost a total of 37 pounds since January 23rd.  I started out at 293 and am currently at 256.  The biggest change for me was in my mind set...I finally got tired of being the "fat friend" and wanted to be different.  I am currently watching the number of calories that I take in, ranging between 1550-1900 or so.  I have started drinking a bunch of water, which has helped a great deal.  I have a pretty busy life, but I am trying to incorporate exercise into my life as well.  I log everything I eat religiously since I need to see the "math" of it all.  Lastly, I have involved all of the people in my life...my friends and co-workers know what I am trying to do and are willing to support me in whatever ways they can.  I am very fortunate to have this.

Good luck to everyone trying to create a healthier life!
I'm not quite sure how much I've lost, but I think it's around 40lbs. I started without weighing myself, so I don't have a very firm starting point. I do know that I dropped from a size 12 to a size 2, though- so that's something. I did it mostly through exercise (running) and eating less.
I lost around 55 - 60 lbs over the past year (I can't be certain of my starting weight as I avoided the scale like the plague). With probably a small break in between where I didn't really count calories and didn't own a scale due to moving across the country (so I have no idea what went on haha), I lost it all by counting calories, eating healthier and exercise. Eating healthy is key - some people may count calories but not eat healthy food. I feel that trying to incoporate more healthy foods into my diet has contributed immensely to my weight loss and how I feel about my body on a day to day basis. I now feel that especially due to this site I am more aware of what I put into my body and what I eat for fuel. I cut out soda completely and most candy (which I probably ate everyday before) I will eat some dark chocolate now if I get an urge but otherwise nothing that could be considered "candy" or sugary. I also try to eat only whole grains and incorporate as many veggies as possible. I have an occasional day where I will eat pizza (but it is thin crust and low fat cheese and has veggies on it esp. spinach haha even my pizza ia healthy). I have nothing against those people who want to use their calories on whatever they want - but I think my body tends to like me better if I keep it natural as possible! I feel great! I am only 1 lb away from my goal (and not really that concerned about it haha) and working on toning after a long break for about the past month (due to exams ack!) Just trying to get back on my routine and see about that last pound! This journey has definately changed my life forever!
I have been starting my journey of learning to eat healthy since oct or nov. 2006. As of my weekly weigh in this morning I am down  39 pounds!!!! (I never thought I could do this)

I carefully monitor what i put in my body... most days. I learned to eat until im satisfied not full. I pre-portion everything, because I have little willpower.  My biggest thing I want people to know is, if you have a bad day DONT GIVE UP! That was where I always used to fail at weight loss. I have realized I will have good days and bad ones, and you just have to keep your eye on the goal.  Now that it is spring.. and summer rapidly approaching I've been focusing more on walking or jogging, anything that will work some muscles. I know how tough it is to work full time and then work out after an 8 or 9 hour day. When I feel my muscles ache I know I am getting one step closer to my goal.

Good luck everyone!

I have successfully lost 46lbs since 4/6/09. I never really realized how u can achieve something, once you put your mind to it! I have tried diets and exercising in the past, but when i didnt see immediate results, I quit. This time was different.  For some reason, something clicked and it worked. Now i cant go more than two days without hitting the gym because i feel sluggish and tired. I tried to go to the gym between 3-5x a week depending on my schedule. If i cant make the gym, I will walk and do whatever I can to get some sort of exercise in.

Although my eating habits have also changed dramatically, they could be a little better. I no longer snack after 7:30 or 8. I no longer drink soda, and water is my new best friend. I no longer eat all those carbs and fill up on empty calories. Ive started to love vegetables, and fruit is really delicious. I do have to admit though, i eat whatever i want, just in smaller portions. I figure that if i eat whatever i want in smaller portions, then there will be no room to binge. Sure if i want that piece of cake, I might have a sliver, just not eat the whole damn cake like I would of done before. Oh, and the recipes cant forget them. New lower fat versions of recipes are so good...(and u cant even tell they are low in calories)

I have about 20 or 30 more lbs to go. I now wear a size 14 (almost a 12) when i was a size 20 before. I get alot more attention from people which boosts my confidence. (then again, doesnt it boosts everyone) I have done this all on my own so far, with barely any support, (except for those on CC) so why would i give up now?  The journey will never be over, but I cant wait to start the maintaining process instead of the weight loss journey. It has been a hell of a ride, but it will be worth it in the end, not only for my confidence, but for my health as well.

Ive lost 85 pounds .I started at 210 im down to 125 and i wanna lose 10 more pounds.I did it by eating healthy, exercising everyday and drinking lots of water and Green tea with no sugar.

The thread from the dead!

So I just had to look at the posts from above to see if anyone was still at it.  XX17StarsXX is still here and her bio is so impressive.  I couldn't believe the before/after pictures she posted.  What a HUGE inspiration.

I've lost a little more than 70 pounds since May '08.  I still have a little more to lose and want to thank everyone for all the support!
