Calling all POETS, ARTISTS AND MUSICIANS!
We've got so many talented people here; this would be a good place to share something other than our 'foods'; diet, and 'problems'.
Franse is a terrific photographer; artist, and poet! Okay, that's a LOT of talent in one lovely lady. Oilpaintlady is a great photographer; painter, and writes poetry also - more talent to share. Imaginee writes poetry; does beautiful photography, and is a magnificent sketch artist. Poetnw is a superb poety; maybe some other hidden talents as well.
Rayn is a great singer; Katydid is an exciting illustrator working on a children's book (want that book for certain); and musci2harvest is not only a whiz on the history of jazz, but can 'jazz' up a cake in the most beautiful way!
Let's do some happy talk; read some great poetry, and enjoy the comments about art and music from the many who have these interests listed in their bio's.
Diane.
In addition to paintings and sketches, I sew and can make some really awesome stuff (including my wedding dress). I used to sell my creations and did tailoring for spending cash but haven't done it since I was over eighteen 'cause I couldn't figure out tax papers. xD
I also do cake decourating and candy making. I've been doing it since I was fifteen and will be making a candy sakura tree with frosting flowers, and the petite fours for the wedding will look like sushi rolls.
Alex does metal workings, both sculpture and jewelry and had his work displayed in a city-wide art show. He likes working with polymer clay and hemp mostly.
When he sketches, he prefers pencils. When I sketch, I prefer pastels, charcoal tablets, or good quality coloured pencils.
He also does computer graphics and had his work displayed in state art shows.
And now I have to pee before I die.
I write poetry, most of it is in French though: here's a translation of one of my poems, not yet the definite one.
rainPickpocket light-footed sun on the run
falling rain
rain seeping in cool caresses down between my breasts
rain spraying rainbows in the colours of my flesh
mingling folds of blouse with the silk of wetted skin
walking in the rain
the bold embrace of woman's body
the earth in heat yearning for flower soaked rain
and dry bottomed bigots watching
still wail to see their God gone mad.
Here is one of the recent one, hope you all enjoy it :)
We are relationships of convenience
Until we inconvenience you
Then you are moving on
Because everything is disposable to you
If it doesn't suit your needs
You have no use for it
We are all here to do you biding
Oh aren't we blessed
Your happiness is our task
A duty to difficult to bear
As we slave at your feet
We look and you aren't even there
We could be come perfect
Subjugating ourselves for you
And when you're sweet and romantic
We believe you are worth what you put us through
We are supposed to be happy
Just because we are with you
But if a partner is what we are seeking
We can't find it in you
Our lives become empty
We have no time to ourselves
You slowly are draining
Our self worth and value
If our interests are not the same as yours
They become insignificant
We try our hardest to become
The model of what you want
But the fault lies not in us
We could be so flawless
Do everything you asked
We could bend over backwards
It will never be enough
You keep driving us crazy
Then tell us thats how we are
But there is one common denominator
In the equation of our lives
And though we sought an equal
We bought all your lines
We found ourselves blinded
By your words and your charms
And when you finally released us
More broken then we came
Our eyes were then open
We can see your games
You think that you will find
Your missing half
But you haven't found yourself
So you will be alone at last
We take our lessons learned
And we turn our backs
Because even if some day you asked us
We would never take you back
We move on gathering strength
We make a better life
We don't let another you cause us strife
We become what we want to be
Whole in and of ourselves
Because we don't need you to complete us
We are fine by ourselves
Beautiful, socialworkersarah! Thank you for sharing! I'll have to share that with my youngest daughter-- for she'll understand that all-too-fully! ![]()
Just for Fun-- a family song-joke I sing to pick on my girls when I feel neglected, hehe!!!
"No-body Loves me-
No! They DON'T!
They could TRY to--
But, they WON"T...!!!
Little things I do or say...
See...!!! I drive them all away...!!!!"
Of course, as the tune is, "Jesus Loves Me," it is extra pitiful, lol!!! ![]()
Try it sometime if you feel unloved, lol!!! ![]()
{{{Laughing!}}} ![]()
Works pretty good, too, lol!!! ![]()
Of course sixtyfivealive would be the one who to start this thread :P.
I'm primarily an illustrator. I love water colors and oil pastels. But as of late, all I've been using is digital media (it's just as wonderful a media in it's own right).

DEAREST SARAH! YOU ARE TIMELY, AND A BLESSING! I know this might sound strange to those that read this, but my wonderful daughter-in-law of TWENTY-FIVE YEARS, has just been 'done in' by my son! When I say, done-in, I mean the most terrible thing; adultery - divorce; lying to her for 11 years (and I just found out a short time ago by his own admissions) - too much to write here - EXCEPT:
This poem of yours I'd like to send - to her, with your permission. She's suffering so much; she's trying to find herself, and we talk (or e-mail) 4 times a day and have for the MONTHS of suffering she's gone through.
We live 2600 miles from each other; she was SO afraid to contact me when my son FILED for divorce - very sudden. She absolutely had 'no clue' what he'd been up to; once all the dirty laundry was brought out into the open, he'd been having an affair for 9 years with a girl 13 years his junior.
The 2 grown grand-kids have 'divorced' themselves from my son (their dad). The family is shocked because of the numerous financial dealings my son had, to create a hard-ship on my former daughter-in-law. Because I had the legal back-ground, I put her 'into action', but 'coaching her from the distance.'
I told her what to say; what to do - where to 'hit' the hardest, and where I knew my son had 'weaknesses' (and secrets from her). Well, in January of this year, SHE WON HER RIGHTFUL SETTLEMENT (financially), but she's still reeling from the whole process, and having a tough time handling this 'loss' - she was just the best.
I always sign my e-mails and letters as Mom-Diane, and always will. My son has decided to 'divorce me', in the process; he's surmised that my daughter-in-law's sudden strength and ability to 'fight every step of the way', had come from me - I guess there was too much of 'me', in her manner, and with that he left a blitzing phone call some months ago - haven't heard from him since!
There is a right way; an ethical way - a decent way; regardless of 'blood' - what is thicker than water, is the truth and honor of a person.
And, as you sum it up so perfectly, we are all in this 'alone' - we must go bravely knowing that it is up to us, and your poem gives a linear and intelligent (while poetic) guide for us all. This is terrific - you are more than just a poet, and 'you know it'. Aha - my poem for the day.
Whoops - well maybe a little one here:
'AND HOW DO I SEE MY GOD', written 1/29/89 for those that perished in the space shot that day.
"And how do I see my God - how tall do I have to be?"
"I'm only as tall as my recent prayer, when I see God most clearly on bended knee."
If anyone is interested in a ceramic commission, send me a message. Maybe we can work something out :)

An older piece that I quite like
My first words - stealing from Stevie Wonder: (sing while looking at Savignon's beautiful illlustration)...."Isn't she lovely, isn't she fine"................
My, isn't she! I love the use of the color - unusual, and keeps it so 'cooling'; so gentle - and what a serene lady she is!
Okay, how do we get to see 'MORE'...I'm very greedy. Diane

I make really cool pottery with beautiful b-mix clay (its like porcelain) and recently have been doing paintings on 3 yards of fabric. I can make it all; cups, bowls, pouring pitchers, jars, vases and teapots! I also do ceramic sculpture.
If anyone is interested in a ceramic commission, send me a message. Maybe we can work something out :)
Hi there! Hey, since I've done some of that, I know how beautiful it can be - I bet you've got it down to a science, and I'm going to see if you've got any in your gallery. If not, how about making sure we have some pictures to enjoy.
I did more of this when I was younger - I'm sure I never achieved your level of competency, but I do know how beautiful the few things I created, were in my home (since given to the kids).
I have a friend who paints on fabric; another who 'layers' her paintings by doing different sections of the painting on PLEXIGLASS - then she puts them together, and you get all that dimension. I bet you'd be good at that - maybe give that a try to add to your 'collection' of talents. Diane

I am music education major with an emphasis on voice!! So, that makes me a musician! Haha.
Aha, I have you on my friends' list! Okay, we know you can sing, but COULD YOU SING LOUDER - I CAN'T HEAR YOU............
Rayn is a CC member; she sings and plays in a 5-piece hand in Portland. I ordered her CD - you should make one up for us; create a spot on MySpace (or some such thing), then we could come to your 'concert'.
My favorite singer (female) is Sarah Brightman - have every one of her songs; she's on my 'blog' where I start my day, and I download a number of her melodies - it's one of the best ways to enjoy my tea.
Okay, we'll wait for your CD - or to see you 'on the charts' some day in the future. Diane

I love this! I remember my green silk blouse that 'clung' just the way you said; it dried with 'spots' - it's now a house-shirt (I kept the blue one dry after seeing what the rain can do).
The last 2 lines have real impact on me, anyway. Also, that FIRST LINE - pure poetry even if nothing had been written after you finished just that sentence.

Hey cellulitedelight, i think it's hilariously fabulous that you are making the petit fours to look like sushi! that's freakin' brilliant! i sew also, and have done several wedding/bridesmaid dresses. i'll do my own too, if the bf and i decide to go that route. we're not particularly traditional.
i am in the theatre, co-founder of a company in Chicago, yayaya, city of wind! i act, direct, do PR and communications. also, sometimes do costumes and design props when needed.
i also write fiction. we do have some creative people around here.

I just wanted to mention to Cellulite - dont let the inability to 'fill out tax forms' stop you from all that you can do, in the field of art.
I used to write contracts for my artist friends. I used to do their taxes for free. I used to promote art in Laguna Beach, and never took a commission - I was just given a piece of their art in payment - something they'd ALREADY DONE, so they'd spent the money; no NEW money had to be invested.
Possibly 'barter' a service you need, for something YOU CAN CREATE IN PAYMENT. It appears you're pretty young still, so one day you'll be better funded - but, give this idea a thought; many young artists have to 'share' their wealth - and their wealth is often, only in the beauty they create, and can give to someone who has a business brain - or 15 left thumbs.
