Calling all 200's plus !!!

Quote  |  Reply
As a newbie I wondered how many others here like me are in the high end 200s ?? Or did you start up here ?

In this first week I seem to have lost almost 10 lbs !!!!! EEkkk !
Am I doing something wrong?? Is this normal ?

The tool suggested I start on 1800 cal count! If I should only be loosing 1-2 lbs a week , does the cal count need to be changed or do I wait a couple of weeks to see if the trend continues ??

1800 seems like plenty at a guess- the first week is mostly water weight, excess stuff getting eliminated from (yuck, sorry) your digestive system cause you're not packing it as full... you'll probably level out in teh next couple weeks.  Also at a high start weight you can lose a little more per week than those who are closer to their target weight.
I am not in the high 200's but I do know that the more you weigh the faster you lose weight....just make sure you're eating enough calories to stay satisfied and healthy. Remember - the faster you lose weight the more likely you are to possibly put it back on (that happened to me and it is NOT fun). Keep up the good work!!
i started in the low 300's (does that count?) and i lost quite a bit to start with.. but my dr. put me on a strict 1200 calorie a day diet.. (i'm doing 1300 heh)  and i'm losing quite nicely i think.. :)

and 1800 a day sounds good.. i think.. :)
I am 210 not high 200's but yea I'm up here. just started today wish me luck. and good luck to you
oh.. and i forgot to add.. i'm at 249 right now.. :)  (lost 75 pounds so far)  :)
:) Welcome Cassie ...

Thanks to everyone else for your throughts. I feel a better now.

Although would still love to hear from other 200's ...
I started at 254 and now I am down to 213.. I started at CC in January and the tools and support have really helped.  Welcome zoe_uk!  and Welcome to cassie-bob too.
Welcome, Zoe!

2 Years ago I weighed 282. I lost 70 and regained 50, VERY painful... Anyway, I joined here almost 2 months ago at 262. I have used all of the tools the site offers to determine how many calories I expend and how many I should take in. Most of the time I am averaging about 2-2.5 pounds per week and this week I've dropped 6 pounds. I haven't changed anything... still eating all my calories (and they have adjusted/dropped as I've lost weight) and still going to the gym 5-6 times per week. I can't offer any logical reason for what happened this week, except that my body was ready to get rid of some "stuff". LOL

I KNOW that every time I have started a diet when I was more than 200 pounds I have had very fast results initially. I lost 5 pounds the first week I started this time around. I also KNOW that I will have weeks where I lose nothing, which is what I had last week... I try to look at my averages. As I said before I'm averaging 2-2.5 pounds per week, I know it's a little higher than it should be, but I also KNOW that it will taper off and slow down as I continue losing.

I think I kinda just rambled... sorry for the rambling. My answers are not scientific, but are simply based on my personal experience.

~Sisa (down 18 pounds since April 24 (Yeah!!!))
I'm over 200... slowly losing weight. I've been here 3 weeks and have lost 7 lbs so far. Not coming off as quick as I'd like but it'll get there.
You just gotta keep on going and not give up.
I started at around 230, and I've lost 16 lbs since then - the
beginning of March. I am at a bit of a plateau now but I'm building
muscle and working hard so I know it will eventually show! Let's keep
at it together!
I started at over 350....now at 296.2.....believe me the weight will become more difficult to come off....good news is that this place is a good support system....they will encourage you to move forward....no matter how difficult the weight loss becomes.
Zoe, I'm so glad you asked that.  I was wishing someone would.  I am 5' in all directions so have a real chanllenge to get to an ideal size.  Found this website mid last week.  I think it is awesome and everyone is so nice to each other.

I started a doctor supervised new eating program last Monday morning @ 269.  I was eating less than 1,000 cal. a day, skipping meals and gaining weight (10 pounds from October to June).  I don't know which is worse trying to eat less then you are used to or more.  During the week I did fair 'cause I work full time and it's easier to stay on the eat every 3 hours schedule set for me.  On the weekend I skipped some meals and didn't get enough cal.

I am eating no added salt, drink 100 ounces water a day and on Saturday weighed 264.2.  I know the difference is water and "junk" flushing out so; I don't care that it is more than the pound a week goal set for me by my doctor coach.  Besides THIS IS THE FIRST WEIGHT I HAVE LOST IN 30 YEARS!!  Cutting out the salt has lowered my blood pressure to a point that soon we may be able to lower my meds; it is really too soon to think about since it has only been a week.

Because both my knees are totally eaten away with arthritis, I can't exercise but am going to try some toning on the upper body at least.  Also, I am going to try a few minutes on a "swing walker" to see if I can do that.  When I lose 100 pounds, I can have knee replacement surgery.

Anyway, I tend to be way to long winded, but I am glad to read your posts and thankful to see more than me over 200.

Thanks
I started at 267. Now down to 214. I lost my first 50 lbs on atkins. Gained back 10. I have been actively doing CC for about 5 weeks and have lost  13 lbs. Thats decent I think. Only 45 to go.

Good luck to you were glad your here!
I started out at 247 January 9th.  Lost about 15 lbs by the time I started CC February 2nd and then I lost about another 10 lbs. This site has been so helpful with being able to keep track of what i am eating.  I moved in April and had no computer so I've been on a bit of a break for a couple of months.  Luckily I didn't gain.  I actually lost 1 lb.  Now I am at 221 and am back on track.  Good luck and keep up the good work.  I also lost  quickly in the first few weeks and then it slowed to about 2 lbs a week, so don't worry about that.
Hi you all ... I am 294 and almost 6'.

It is good to to hear there are others at this weight who are loosing. If you want to team up for support , please add me to your friends list. I have started to add to my journal too.

It is so great that when your not sure so many members take the time to re-ensure you. THANKS ... =)

I joined CC at the beginning of May, and 6 weeks down the line I've lost 14lbs... (I was 249, am now 235).  It's been immensely helpful having this resource available to analyse for me... it takes all the pressure off - I don't think I just type in everything I've eaten and bingo, I can see everything in black and white!

I LOVE the recipe forum too... it's so inspiring!

:-)

Everyone loses weight at a different speed, there are so many factors to consider, it's just nice having somewhere like this that you're bound to find someone else in the same boat.
Well Helllllllooooooooooooo Fellow 200 plusers!

I too am a newbie.  I really dont know what took me so long to get to this point in my life to do something about it.  I'm really sick of being this way.  I have avoided people and functions bc I didnt want to be seen. Maybe you've been there? I would also like to order a non plus size ANYTHING!  LOL!  I'm mainly doing a modified rice diet. ( low sodium, fruits, veggies, portion control, and getting some exercise!)

keeping track of foods and exercise is very helpful, as is the weight tracker on this site.. very motivating!

Nice to meet you all and here's hopin' we all get to the other side!

Take care of you and will chat wit chew lata

Hey everyone, I am also a 200+.  I weighed 255 in January, and when I started this site on April 17 I was 244.  Now I am 238.  Which is about 6 pounds in almost 2 months...wait while I try to do math.....that's a little less than a pound a week.  I have just started excerise routinely though so that should speed it up a little (not too much, just a little)  It is good to hear from others and hopefully one day we will all be here posting about being in the "over 100" pounds lost club!
Welcome. I start CC at 240lbs and am now 216. I started in late october, then fell off the wagon for two months and ate everything I could (lots of mcdonalds double cheeseburgers), then kicked myself in the pants, and started CC again at 238 at the end of February. So total lose so far, 24lbs, total since getting back on the bandwagon 22 in about 3 1/2 months. I am happy with the loss and rate so far. If I can not tollerate what I am doing now and the length of time, then I don't think I could stick with this for a life style change.
