Calling all TALL women... PLEASE!! 5'9 or taller
I was wondering what your daily calorie needs are.
What do you eat to maintain/lose weight?
What types of exercise do you do?
Also what is your goal weight?
Im 5'9 and currently weigh 220 with a goal weight of 160-180 Not sure never been that low.
I currently eat 1800-2000 cals and exercise 6 days a week on the elliptical. I am currently seeing NO results.
I am thinking about eating between 1500-1700 to really jumpstart my weightloss.
I'm currently eating around 2000 cals per day and exercising for about 45 minutes 5-6 times a week. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 255. I've been losing about 1/2 - 1 lb per week. My goal right now is to get to around 175 and then see where I go from there.
If you aren't seeing any results at your current calorie level then I'd drop it some and see if that helps. Based on your stats you should be burning around 2100 calories for a sedentary lifestyle. You would then need to add in the number of calories burned for your exercise. I try to aim for a deficit of around 500 - 700 calories most days (some days are less some are more) and this seems to work for me. However, everyone's body is different so you need to tweek the numbers to find what will work for you.

Hi there! I am 5'11 and weigh 194. I started at 198. I haven't lost alot of weight but I have lost inches. I lost it doing a 10 week program where we did resistance band training 3 days a week and kickboxing 3 days a week. I think that gaining muscle really helps. You should consider adding weights to your workout.
I try to eat 1800 calories. I am not much of a success story, but I am trying.
My goal weight is 170 maybe. I want to see what that looks like on me. It has been such a long time ago that I weighed less the 190, I don't remember! Before I got pregnant (12 years ago) I weighed about 140 and I was VERY skinny. I am not looking for that again.

Yes! Tall girls. I am 5'11 and am at 230. Started at 240. I try to keep my calorie intake at about 1500 - 1700. I splurged today at lunch and overall I just try to keep it balanced and be mindful of my numbers. I've been walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes a day and if I do less than that floor exercises for about 20-30 minutes to target my stomach and thighs. I do crunches/sit-ups, bent knee raises for lower abdominals, leg lifts and doggie leg lifts for the thighs. Been researching some other workouts on line to change it up from time to time so that I can always have some differences in my work out.
I have to share I'm very excited, I've been off and on CC and I just got back on this past week which of course is not long but being at 230 solid and not to mention it's that TOM means something's working!
My immediate goal is 190 but 180 is my true goal. A solid 14 and maybe a 12 one day with some decent muscle. I've never wanted to be skinny, I just want to feel comfortable again in my clothes. Being tall, people always say we can get away with it, but it's frustrating enough shopping for clothes when everything is so short, working with being tall and big just triples the frustration. One year in my 20s I got down to 173, I was skin and bones so WHEN I hit 180, watch for the fireworks!
I'm 5-10, 200lb and 44 years old(working toward 180...my happy weight) and know if I do best if I exercise 5 days x 45-mins and eat around 2100 calories a day. You should eat approx 500 calories less then what your expenditure is to lose weight. My expenditure is 2600 calories a day. That would be about 1 pound a week.

melaniep0123~ you may lead a more active lifestyle than I do. I am a stay at home mom, so I care for the kids and do a lot of work on the computer for school. The only real exercise that I get is on my elliptical. I currently do 25mins, Im working my way up. If I eat 2100 not much happens. I decided to drop down to 1700 and see what happens. I havent weighed myself in a good month so Im not sure where I stand. I plan on weighing in next Saturday.
Hi! I'm 5'9", 172 today (it bounces around) and 42. Currently I'm aiming for 140 (I'm small framed). I eat around 1500-1550 a day, leaving me with around a 500 cal deficit. I just recently upped my calories from 1300, figuring that I might be stalled because I was eating too little. I've been stalled since Christmas, though, and I'm hoping that's the problem.
Currently my only exercise is a fast 10min walk to / from the bus to work, because this stupid cold is kicking my butt. Ideally I get up an hour earlier, though, and do 30min on the elliptical or 30min weights before work.

i am 5'10" with a current weight of 159lbs, small frame and based on various/numerous calculations would like to drop that to somewhere b/w 135 and 140 lbs....right now i am consuming 1800-2000 cals a day, HOWEVER i do work in a busy restaurant so i do "light cardio" (as i like to call it) for an average of 8 hrs a day/5 times a week....i don't want to drop my calorie intake any lower because simply i LOVE TO EAT and would be hungry with any less food.....i do eat healthy though but also don't deny myself any cravings, just strictly monitor my portions when it comes to those devilishly yummy treats, so instead of eating less i will be adding 3 classes a week at a gym where they vary quite nicely (kickboxing/weight/aerobic/boot camp drills just to mention a few) to see if that will suffice in breaking this crappy plateu i've been in for the last year......when i joined CC in Nov. '06 i was about 190 lbs
eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a court jester! i'm telling you, after a few days of this, you'll notice you won't feel as hungry later on in the day

im not looking to lose weight, but to tone up and feel healthier
to lose weight a while back I ate 1400 a day, but im pretty much sedentary with an pretty small frame, so it was allright by the burn meter. Now its just about toning up

Hmm I am 5 '9' at 192 at the moment. My highest was 5 years ago at 209, my lowest was a few years ago at 173, but I gained weight since I moved to japan, it goes up and down really. I was done to the 180's but now back up. When I joined here a few days ago i was 194. I would like to be around 160 but my goal is for 170 for the summer. my cousin is getting married and i'm the maid of honor.
But I eat 1300-1600 calories a day, and i work out 3 times a week, usually 1.5 hours. 1 hour cardio and 30 mins weights and stretching.
But I'm still trying my best, but it's hard. Fight!

I am 5'10" current weight is 272lbs - my goal weight right now is 200lbs. I don't know if I'd ever dip below that, I think I would look odd weighing in at 150lbs with my body frame. I think I have some banging curves right now and that is my main focus, not to lose them underneath rolls and rolls of fat!! My main target areas right now are my thighs - inner especially!! I'm sick of ruining pants! Also, my tummy/hips as well as my arms. It seems like any weight I've put on went straight to my arms!

CC recommends I consume 1,658 calories to reach my goal weight. I'm currently at the gym 5 days a week - I usually do group cardio exercise classes 3 days out of the week, the other 2 days you'll find me on the elliptical/treadmil/or toning up a bit. I weigh in weekly, sometimes bi-weekly. I also keep a log of my measurments (which I take monthly) to see if I lost any inches.
It's tough and at times discouraging when you don't see the numbers on the scale drop, but this site definately helps out a lot!! ![]()

I'm about 5 10 around 147lbs, goal weight is 138lbs (what I was this time last year) I don't really excersise anymore as I don't get chance so I try to stick to about 1300cals a day but I have a problem with bingeing at the moment so normally at the weekend I eat alot more than that as I'm prone to binges every Sunday
Normally when I eat 1300cals a day I loose weight quite quickly even though I do not excersise.
Its nice to see so many other TALL women out there.
I have a LARGE frame so right now Im aiming for 180. My goal wasnt really weight but rather size. I just want to be a size 10. If all goes the way it has I will be a 10 at about 180.
mizzjenni~ I feel you on the thighs. I always complain to my husband about my inner thighs. I hate how they rub together. UGH!!! We WILL get there.

Just out of curiosity , how much of a deficit are you all running? I keep mine between 750-1000.
I realize that everyone has a different deficit "tolerance" but I'm really curious what that is for others like me. :-)

I am 5'9, started on CC 1/22 at 208lbs, today (6 weeks later) I am at 189. Almost down 20 lbs! I aim for 1300-1500 cals a day. Each morning I am on the treadmill for 30-60 mins and I take a weight resistance/cardio/ab class for one hour on Tues & Thurs. On my most active days I burn about 2300 cals a day.
My goal weight is 145lbs.

I usually keep about a 1000 cal deficit. Somedays its lower when I allow myself to have more food. This usually happens about once a week or less.
