Calling Autumn 08 brides
CONFESSION: I have been absent from Calorie Count for at least 2 months. Maybe more. I have a few lame excuses (i.e. finishing up my graduate degree; taking a 2-week trip to Europe), but I feel guilty for letting myself slack for so long. As a result of my lackadaisical attitude, I have not lost any weight for my wedding. I'm right back where I started and I have only 6 weeks left until my wedding (8-8-08).
I never wanted to lose more than 10 pounds. I weigh 135 normally and would love to be a toned 125 by wedding day. Is it possible to lose 10 pounds in 6 weeks and look amazing? I'm starting to think I don't have enough time to make an impact.
MY VOW: To resume recording all meals and workouts in Calorie Count from this day forward; for better, for worse; in sickness and in health. :) Sorry, I couldn't resist the corny wedding vows since we've all got weddings on the brain!
I think we definetly need to motivate each other more! I did really well my first 2 weeks, then it was "that time of the month" and I have been stagnant for going on 3 weeks now. I am hovering around 125 and I would love to be around 120 and toned for my Sept 27th wedding. I originally also want to lose 10lbs for my wedding, but I keep thinking thats probably not realistic. I'll be happy in the 117-120 range.
Maybe you could get your fiancee involved? I have been on this fitness and weight loss kick for a while, and over the last couple weeks I got Craig involved. We both decided to lose about 10 lbs (though the more I think about it, I'll probably just stick to 5 and focus more on toning), for the wedding. Since then, we have NO junk food in the house, which is helpful (Craig loves his potato chips, and then he gets me munching). And Craig has even been starting to eat healthier during his lunch breaks at work (he's cut out sweet tea, which is a big one for him!). The best thing though is we started going to the gym together, and that has really motivated HIM and me to get off the couch.
Sometimes we sit next to each other on the bikes and try to see who can go farther during the timed setting. The competition motivates us a lot. I've beat him each time, so it gets me going to pump myself that much harder to make sure I keep my title. I have a gym at work that I try to use everyday during work hours, but lately Ive found if I dont go with Craig after work, he wont go at all (I even started going twice a day a couple of days)! So, when I go with him he shows me the different weight machines and how to use them, and I dont feel as intimidated.
Good luck! I am hoping to get off this mini plateau soon and start losing those extra 5. I'm sure you can lose those extra pounds by August! Have you already gone in for all your dress fittings?
Yes, I've had two dress fittings and my dress fits like a glove. The bridal shop is storing my dress until right before the wedding, and if I need to have a third fitting, I can do that, too. So I'm not worried about losing weight and having my dress not fit.
My fiance works from home and has time to hit the gym on his lunch hour. Lucky! He lifts weights and does very little cardio (he's got one of those dense, muscular bodies and a high metabolism... I'm jealous of the metabolism part). I am a big home-workout person ~ I have DVDs and a nice elliptical ~ so I really don't have much of an excuse to skip workouts. I just get busy going out to dinner with friends after work or feel too tired to work out... you know, the normal excuses. :)
My sister/MOH and I have been working out together occasionally (we do the Beach Body P90X workout DVDs), and I really do push myself harder when she's right there sweating her butt off with me. So I'll have to recruit her for workouts more often. It is more motivating to have a partner, that's for sure! Thanks for your advice, amnlcrckr!
I am now due a baby on Oct 28th so losing weight for my wedding isn't really a problem anymore!! Getting married July 19th so three months early now. Only put on 5lbs through the pregnancy so I think I have been very good. Don't want loads to lose at the other end. Start swimming tomorrow too which will help. Louise

Wow! Congrats on the baby news! Your wedding is just around the corner ~ and the date of my bachelorette party. :) I'm glad you aren't focusing on losing weight right now, either.
I have a month until the wedding and I'm really trying to stick to 1300-1500 calories a day and exercising 3+ times a week. This is what I should be doing ALL the time, but I know my caloric intake can somtimes be around 1800-2000 (which is technically an okay amount to maintain my current weight of 135; I'm 5'4" to put that in perspective). To be honest, I have entire weeks where I know I'm eating like crap and not being active enough. But I'm human.
Part of my problem with motivation is because I am not unhappy with the way I am right now. Yes, my body could be in better form, but I'm a size 4-6 and it would be completely fine if I stayed this shape the rest of my life. HOWEVER. There is so much potential for me to be stronger and more fit, that I can't let myself be complacent with my current state. So my goal is to break through this mindset of complacency and challenge myself to be something better.
Sorry I slacked on this thread! I am getting married Sept 6th and am 5 lbs from where I need to be. I bought my dress in December at my thinnest and most fabulous and have gained 5-7 lbs since. It's snug, beautiful, but snug. Would prefer it to be a little more comfortable. Needing serious motivation. My fiance bought Tony Horton's 10 min workout tapes, so I might do that. I have no motivation to Calorie Count though by being "Calorie Conscious" I am solidly maintaining my 5 lbs weight gain rather than gaining more which would have been my fate had I not gotten some sort of a grip on it a month ago.
What is everyone else's update? I NEED MOTIVATION!!!!!!!
I was doing really well as well and lost about 5 lbs, then I started slacking the past few weeks and gained back a couple...though I did put on some muscle and lost half an inch from when I started....I pick up my dress after my 1st fitting on August 5th (also a Sept wedding but the end of Sept)...
I just talked my future husband into going to the gym, and we have gone a few times together, he helps me with the weight exercises, and I try to motivate him and his cardio (since he slacks on cardio)...I changed my goal weight from 115 to 117-120 (I think 115 might be too little and i dont want to lose my boobs!). Right now I am hovering around 125, and could also use some motivation to drop those last 5-7 lbs in time!
I bought a workout video from target for the days I cant make it to the gym, its called "Total Body Cardio" its a 50 minute video, doing cardio, some arm excercises and free weights, and your core, and then a 10 minute yoga cool down. I've done it 4 times so far, and each time, my legs and arms are sore for days.
Good luck everyone with those last few pounds!!! And bride08, congrats on the baby!!!
I second that sentiment, congrats on the baby, how exciting!!!

It is not a fact that garlic helps with weight loss; no studies have looked at garlic and weight loss in humans. One small study on... Read more
