Are you craving chocolate, but don't feel like baking (or ingesting hundreds of calories?!)

SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND MAKE MY 70 CALORIE CHOCOLATE CUP CAKE! It's still a microwave recipe, and tasty beyond belief, just without all those calories! The recipe is as follows:

2 packets stevia (0 calories)

2 TBS egg beaters (15 calories)

1/4 TSP baking powder (0 calories)

Thank you! I am tottaly trying this this weekend when I buy some whole wheat flour/whey protein powder!!! You should check out my "super low calorie chocolate dipped strawberries" IT WILL CHANGE UR LIFE!!

BTW how big is it?

It's about the size of a vitamuffin... so like medium sized. That was my main motivation for creating this, to replace my daily vitamuffin, since they're so expensive! I think this actually tastes better lol

And thank you, I will deffinetly check out your recipe :D

Why oh why did I buy the vanilla whey powder today!  Now I have to wait until I use it up ;_;.

Oh my dear god.  I think I love you.

^^^^^^ What sharpshootinstar said^^^^^^ Laughing

Where do I find this powder?

Oh I'm sure you could use vanilla powder for this, righteothen. It would just have more of a vanilla/chocolate twist flavor! I've tried it both ways, and while the chocolate is to die for, the vanilla is still very, very, VERY tasty :)

And to all the others curious about designer whey, I have purchased it, in the past at Trader Joe's and Marc's. If you don't have these stores around, or simply cannot find it, any other protein powder will work. The designer whey is 25 calories per tablespoon, so just recalculate based upon the caloric differences (if there are any). You can also sub whole wheat flour in place of protein powder.

Other good brands of protein powder to use are Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey, and EAS Whey. But really, any brand will work fine! I imagine that you could even expiriment with strawberry flavors if you'd like!

Oh and a little update... I treated myself today and added a piece of Dove Dark Chocolate into the center of my batter... then when the cake was done, I topped it with fat-free cream cheese. With both of these additions, it's only an extra 70 calories. Plus, more protein from the cream cheese (and just pure goodness from the chocolate Laughing) I imagine that there are SO many variations on this recipe though, so cook away and be creative!

julz you are my golden goddess, this cake is amazing! I used what I had in the fridge n cupboard, so...substituted 0% Fage yogurt, splenda and liquid egg whites and it turned out fine and delicious. For the cocoa I used dark chocolate cocoa with tiny pieces of chocolate in it, so there were little melted bits of chocolate in the cake. Just fantastic, thanks again for sharing this recipe!

thanks Julz and Surfkitty. I was about to ask if it is ok to use egg whites because that is what i have:))

Ladies, i don't have cocoa powder. I have carob powder. Is that good?

I might buy swissmiss chocolate powder just to make some hot chocolate. can I use that one?

I second the carob powder question, and also, could I use a different yogurt? Greek is so hard to come by around here.

you know Mars, I think it is a matter of taste and flavor. I just don't know how it will taste. I think you should use chocolate protein powder if you are going to use carob.

hey guys, the way I figure it, it's a 5-minute-to-make recipe, with the tiniest amount of ingredients, might as well give your variations a try. The worst that will happen is a dirty dish, fork and measuring spoon.

Greek yogurt is very thick, other yogurts may not have the same results. We get it in the regular supermarket now, maybe you could ask your market to order it?

I don't use carob powder, never found a way to make it palatable to me, but try and and report back. It's fun to experiment!

My husband LOVES whoopie pies - god help him - so today I'm going to make the cakes, slice in half for a top and bottom and spread cool whip in between and freeze for a couple of hours. This recipe is an inspiration Wink

I made this yesterday and it is fabulous!! I used EAS soy protein powder and egg whites because that was in my cabinet. I drizzled just a little Hershey's chocolate sauce for frosting. FANTASTIC!!

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  This is the first cake I have had in a year, and it was worth the wait!!  Loved it.  I used 1 oz fat-free cream cheese with 1 package splenda and one teaspoon sugar-free chocolate syrup for the topping.  I think it added about 35 calories, which is great with me.  I have been worried about my future, but now I'm not, I can eat cake on a regular basis (lol).

Hey!  I'm excited about this!!!!  haha.

Another thing, julz..

What can we use in place of stevia?  Would splenda be acceptable?
