Calorie-Count 5K T-Shirt Design Competition - RULES CLARIFIED! PLEASE READ!!
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
I've spoken to Erik and Igor and would like to present to you a unique opportunity: the chance to design the next Calorie-Count T-Shirt for Our Cafepress Store!
Here are the Details:
We ask you, the users, to design a T-shirt, front and back, that we could put up on the Calorie-Count store for use during the Calorie-Count 5K (and any other races or other times you'd like to wear such a shirt!). All that we ask is that the calorie-count name be included someplace in the design.
To sign up, just add your name here and come up with a design. Final designs must be sent by the end of the day in a well-known computer format such as JPG or GIF, on February, 10, 2007, so that a panel of judges can decide which T-shirt will win.
The winning T-shirt will be placed by Erik and Igor on the Calorie-Count Cafepress store with enough time so that all interested may purchase a copy in time for the Calorie-Count 5K Virtual Race.
The details are below:
1) This is a design competition not just for a new Calorie-Count shirt, but for this SPECIFIC event, the March Virtual Calorie-Count 5K! :) Please, please, please make sure that your design is for this kind of shirt!
2) Please send all shirt designs to hkellick@gmail.com by February 10th, 2006. I will then distribute the shirts to our esteemed judges on the 11th and let the judging begin!
3) Your esteemed judges will be: newdock, neeners, hkellick, Igor and Erik!
4) We will be judging based on the following Criteria: Originality, Use of Calorie-Count.com Logo (As this is for the C-C Virtual 5K, we believe that Calorie-count.com SHOULD be, in some way, mentioned.), Your message (We're suckers for inspiring t-shirts), and whether the t-shirt applies to ALL level of people doing this 5K, from those walking to beginner, intermediate and veteran runners.
5) There will be no restrictions on colors or t-shirt design. neeners has offered to make the winning t-shirt design ready for CafePress.
Get your creative wits about you, folks! Now's your chance to shine! :D

I want in. *Starts thinking*
haahaahaa my creative sillyness has already started to bubble! In what format should our creative designs be submitted in? And where do we submit them to?
Sign me up!
and psst! A 5K is not a "marathon"... But that's just technical talk.

My suggestion is that people submit the creative design in a typically used picture format (gif, jpg, etc.) showing the design. To the best of my knowledge, that's the sort of format Cafepress needs on their shirts :)
And the where is being worked out still, as we figure out whom the judges will be :) Possibly I'll ask everyone to send to me :)
And thanks! I've changed the wording! :D

I won't enter, but I'd love to be a judge if you still need help HK. Let me know - you probably still have my email address or you can drop me a note here or in my journal.
Why not let Erik &/Or Igor the judges??? Just an idea.
hk....I'd really like to be a judge. I have a background in graphic arts, plus, I've been around CC since July 2005 PLUS I have done many races and know what shirts people like to wear.
Let me know.
As for screen printing...usually designers like to work in EPS format...although PDF is becoming much more common. But, for judging, JPG or GIF would be easier to post.

Neeners and newdock, I'd love it if the two of you would be judges :)
Salome, that is a good idea :)
Making some edits to the post :)

i wish i was original enough to design a shirt, but i'm not. but i would love to be a judge if you still need help!
i'm not a very good graphic artist either, but I'm quite the Paint hacker! LOL
Oh no, I've been at the gym and not online. Tell me you can still squeeze me in as a judge. :)
I'm waiting to hear from Erik.
Will let people know soon! :)

hk...are the entries limited to two colors? or one color? The reason being, full color screen prints are more expensive too. OR...I could take the winning shirt design and make it a two-color print job, if it's in full color.
I know, I know....this is getting complicated. I would just say anything goes and then we'll look at cost later. If we need to, we can pair it down in color. The CC orange is a must.

hummmmmm Neeners Graphics background is showing. ;)
Right now, I'm thinking we should give people free reign to make it whatever colors they choose, and figure out the details of making it a shirt later. :)
And, I personally believe for the contest, people should make sure it's a Calorie-Count.com shirt, but don't necessarily need to use the orange font or the finger/button. However, that's me personally and each judge will come in with different preferences :)

this sounds fun!
I'm still rolling ideas around. I just need to put some graphics together that will actually work for a tshirt print. I'm just really not all that creative, but I am competitive!
*bump* Let's get some sign-ups! :D
Just thought I'd add....any design, whether hand-drawn, cut and pasted from whatever...can be redone in digital format. Submissions in any form are fine and I volunteer to revise it in digital format for screen printing.
I hope that helps with people's willingness to submit designs!

That's mighty kind.
Y'all hear that folks? Any design, of any sort. By 2/10/07 COULD be the next Calorie-Count.com T-Shirt!!
Thank you, neeners!
