Calorie Counter

Hi all, brand new to CC, find the calorie counter very difficult to use. I can find olive oil, but what about just 1 teaspoon olive oil? I can find 1 cup mashed avocado, but what about just 1/3 of a whole one? It seems to be very time consuming, hope you brave soldiers of the diet wars have some tips for me...!

Hi! And welcome, I wish you lots of luck! I found it a bit difficult at first, but as I got used to the navigation it got easier. I didn't like a lot of the gram weight, or cup measurements, so I purchased a digital scale that goes from oz to grams at the touch of a button. Best $20 I ever spent. I now rely on the actual weight for the calorie count and find that easier. When you add to your food list, most of the foods allow you to adjust the portion size in a drop down menu, if I use 1/2 cup instead of 1 cup I put in .5 cups.

As far as your mashed avocado (which I LOVE but try and stay away from due to high calorie and fat) you can weigh it and put in the actual weight for proper count. I do this with banana's and apples, so I get the real McCoy.

After all, were only cheating ourselves in the end. A great idea for your avocado is to "thin" with plain yogurt or fat free sour cream, also try fat free cream cheese.

I like the fact that I can analyze recipes. Although I don't always get the food I want. For example, 99% fat free ground turkey comes up as lean ground turkey giving me more calories, than I am actually eating, however, better to err in my favor.

I can always use a weight lose friend, if you like, mark me as a friend! We'll learn together!

Thanks for reading!
