You are way off base.

I think this pretty much sums up why you're wrong: "The recommend daily calorie intake is 2,000 for women and 2,500 for men. This is the most important part if you want to lose 20 pounds a week."

yes it's very important to have 2,000- 2,500 calories a day.  Temporarily you can adjust that number to below that simply shock your system into losing weight.  Some feel irritable and fatigued with this.   I have some more articles I has written to  back up that information more.  It's very important to remember that under the 2,000 calories a day is to be temporary, certaily not long term.

thanks for the comment

What you aren't realizing is that you are telling people that they will lose 20 pounds per week on that caloric intake. That is completely false.

Can I ask where you got this 2000-2500 calorie number and what information you found that contradicts all the specific formulas created to calculate the amount of calories a person will burn in a day? I checked out the articles but you cite no sources.

Maybe it was a little unclear.  I am not claiming that you will lose 20 pounds each and every week.  I certainly do agree that this would be impossible and certainly not healthy by any means.  You can condition your body to lose 20 pounds a week (for maybe one week).

Not each and every week but some week you might spike out at 15-20 pounds.  Again that is just a good week if you can lose 15-20 pounds but don't expect those kind of results on a weekly basis.  Our bodies are like machines and if they machine is oiled right it can be a fat burning machine.

I do agree with you that statement is kind of misleading and I do apologize if it appears to be misleading.  I am only tying to help others lose weight and I want them to succeed.

2000-2500 calories a day is just a broad range that I got off reading though some articles at WebMd and About.  Give of take 100 or so calories each way.  I apologize for not listing my sources as I am not a proffesional write I just do it as a side hobby and health is very important to me.  Cool

I enjoyed reading through you comments!

Hmmmm...considering that my body only uses about 2400 calories a busy day, eating around 2000 would cause me to lose weight, but slowly.

Now, cutting that number of consumed calories to 1700, I can still lose weight, and have fluctuation room, so I can eat more some days, and eat less on others, and still eat less than I burn. However, I don't burn 2400 every day.  there are days I burn less, and days I burn more. This is why I sit my calories at 1700--it gives me some breathing room.

I imagine the closer to my goal weight I become, that I will just have to add more exercise. The amount I eat on a normal day is actually plenty of food for me, except for on special occasions--but that's why they're special. Not everyone burns the same amount of calories. The older you are, the less your body uses; likewise, the younger you are, the more it needs. I don't think that eating 2000 calories a day will really cause me to have one week every once in great while where I suddenly drop 15-20lbs. I think that's humanly impossible. I would like to see where in the world you got that number, and what research you have to back that up. 5lbs dropped in a week I could understand--sometimes the scale just doesn't like to budge. But 15-20?

Uh, people, keep in mind that every time someone clicks through to one of her "articles" the OP gets paid. This could be considered trolling...

I will have to write another article to  futher show  what i mean by losing 20 pounds a week....

I think there is a misunderstanding about what I mean and I will clarify it

I'll let you know when I have it done.

Also, having read a couple of his/her articles out of vague curiosity myself, I can pretty safely say they're plagiarized. There are absolutely no references whatsoever on each article I read, even though the silver_bells said s/he did research. It's apparent that there was research done, but absolutely no credit is given where credit is due. The articles even sound like other articles I have read in the past.

silver_bells, if I could post a picture of the FAILBOAT, I think I would. Because this whole thing smells of fail and trolldom.

thats not very nice of you to slam me like that.  I am trying to help people lose weight.  I am a novice writer.  I am sorry you feel that way.

While I understand that you are not advocating a low calorie diet, it is still unhealthy to lose more than 1-2 pounds per week -- or 1% of your weight, and 15-20 pounds in any week would be too much unless under medical supervision (but that is usually as a result of a very low calorie diet and/or excessive exercise).

(from the moderator's handbook:)

Calorie Count Plus's mission is to promote healthy and sustainable weight management.

A safe rate of weight loss is generally considered to be roughly 1% of your body weight per week.  For most people ~1-2 lbs per week is about right, assuming that you are not underweight to begin with.

Under a doctor's supervision many people do lose at a faster rate, particularly when they have a lot of weight to lose and the health risks of losing at a very fast rate are evaluated by the doctor against the risks of being overweight.

15-20 pounds a week?  That's just ridiculous and unhealthy.

thank you and i am not advocating that you should lose 20 pounds a week.  I am hear just to help educate I am not trying to get you to lose 20 pounds a week.  Unless you are pro boxer or something that is not realistic at all.

Cool
