calorie deficit confusion!

Quote  |  Reply

I'm a bit confused about calories and excercise etc

I'm 5"5, 126-127lbs and according to the bmi calculator i used i'm 21.1. also i'm 16 years old. i put on a few lbs (i was about 120-123lbs before) due to exams and not having time to excercise- i wouldn't mind losing a few but if i just tone up and build some muscle and don't lose lbs that's fine.

i go to curves gym which is mainly toning i'd say. i walk most days for at least half an hour and i'm starting yoga

i have some bad days where i go waay over and eat loads of rubbish but i try to eat around 1500kcals-1800 per day.

so

1) is that amount of kcals the right amount?

2) what calorie deficit should i aim for if at all?

also i go on holiday in a few weeks so i reeally want to feel confident in shorts etc

any advice :)?

sorry if i wasn't very clear!

If you're a healthy weight (which you are) then the best option is not to cut your calories but to simply eat as well as possible and  do a little more exercise.  Teenagers need 1800 cals minimum for good health so don't worry about calorie deficits.  Instead eat good, wholesome food, get plenty of exercise and drink enough water each day.

If you want to feel confident in shorts then you could work on making the skin on your legs look glowing and healthy.  Body-brushing, fake tan moisturisers, waxing..... will all make more of a difference than losing a pound.

thanks i will give it a go! i'm just about to take my dog out for a walk and then later i'm going for a work out.

and i will top up on the fake bake!

:)
