Calorie deficit
What is the average calorie deficit you should have for the day? Right now mine is 1464. Is that too high?
I'm no doctor, but that sounds way too high. My nutritionist says that people trying to lose weight in a healthy way should aim to lose 1 pound a week, which means that you should have a deficit of 3,500 calories for the week.
Maybe I should just eat some fruit. I don't want to go into starvation made. I already had dinner ( a veggie quesadilla ) and I sure don't feel like grabbing at the ice cream. I figured as much it would be lower than that, I just wasn't that sure. So I guess i'll go eat a little bit more then. Thanks guys!
1000 calories below maintenance is about as low as you could go. But not a good idea. You will under eat and as a consequence may be tempted to binge eat since you feel so hungry. Weight loss should be slow and gradual. Your metabolism can be damaged by eating too little so be careful.
Eat a piece of fruit and a handful of nuts. When I was heavier I aimed my deficit at 500-1000 calories per day. Now that I'm a bit lighter (slightly overweight) I am for 200-500 calories per day.
