i hope i'm in the right place. i've been reading some of the posts on here and i've seen a lot of 'calorie deficit' mentioned. i am completely clueless as to what that means!
i just hit the "10 lbs lost" mark yesterday after a little over a month of trying, whoo-hoo!!! i have 30 left to go but i would really like to make the most of my weight loss journey so i might need to know about this 'calorie-deficit' thing.
any advice?
I'm new here too, but not new to dieting. I'm pretty sure what you're seeing when "calorie deficit" is used is a day to day calorie consumption that is LESS than you are burning---ie a negative balance. Calories in + calories burned off should be a negative number in order to achieve weight loss. Most of the time if you have a calorie deficit of 500 calories a day, you will lose about 1 lb a week (7 days x 500cal = 3500 cal which is 1 lb). This site is really nice because it has a "burn meter" which should be approximately how many calories you are burning off at any given time (if you entered the correct activity level). As long as the calories you are eating are less, you should lose weight. Sounds easy but we all know in the real world it's pretty hard! Good luck!
