I figure mine out on my own. I also don't log on CC, so I can't remember by now if it did that for me already or not. Sorry I'm not much help! good luck!

I haven't found a place on CC where it actually figures your deficit for you, though I have written CC and they are working on it.  You have to take your calories burned and subtract your calories eaten and figure it out on your own for now.

I calculate my own based off of the info from this site. The equation is:

RMR + exercise - intake = deficit.

or:

RMR + exercise - deficit you want = intake you need

I second this one.  I log all my foods and extra activities on here.

Thanks For all the help i think i get it now. LOL

It told me to eat 1550 calories and my burn meter says I burn 2440 just living. It made the deficit for me, sorta.

Hi Kay,

I use an excel spreadsheet to log my calories which keeps track of both my daily intake and how many calories I have remaining for the entire week.  This way I can use the power of averaging - if I eat more one day, I can make it up over the next couple days.

How I figured my deficit was estimating that my body burns 2,400 per day (without exercise) and I just subtracted 500; which equates to about 13,300 total calories for the week.  Then I just ensured that I ate less than 13,300 per week.  By doing that simple plan I was able to lose 55-lbs in 5-months.  If I would've not lost weight in say 4 or 5 weeks I would have just lowered the daily number by 100 or 200 calories.

Also, IMHO, you shouldn't include your exercise in determining what your calorie burn is as if you are unable to get to the gym or for whatever reason don't keep up with your workout you won't feel like you've failed and you will still lose weight.  If you do workout, you will reap the benefit of a healthier body and will lose weight faster.

That is my entire plan, I do have a website that I've made all this information available, including my spreadsheet. You can find the address under my profile. I assure you there is nothing to buy or any catches you can download everything for free.  You don't even have to give any personal information and there is no "click-through" advertising.  I just want to share my success with others...Honestly.

Good luck and God Bless,

Pat

Wish I had excel, that sounds alot easier than watching my intake daily, cause I go over somedays and under on others.
